About the role

Tidal is seeking a highly skilled AVP of Trading and Portfolio Management responsible for the implementation and management of various Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) portfolios. This role requires a deep understanding of financial markets, strong analytical skills, and a proven track record in managing portfolios within relevant risk-reward frameworks.
The ETF Portfolio Management team provides portfolio management and execution services for ETF issuers. The firm manages both active and index-based portfolios and covers most major global asset classes. This position will closely be involved with day-to-day portfolio management functions of exchange traded products.

What you'll do

  • Serve as a key member of the Portfolio Management team, supporting the day-to-day management and oversight of passive investment portfolios and serving as a point of contact for clients as needed.
  • Monitor portfolios and support trade execution, compliance reporting, and other activities related to the ongoing management of investment strategies.
  • Perform daily portfolio reconciliations, identify discrepancies, and coordinate with internal teams to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Partner closely with the Trading team to prepare and execute trades, portfolio rebalances, ETF baskets, and other portfolio activity.
  • Prepare quarterly portfolio reconciliations and reporting to support portfolio oversight, compliance requirements, board meetings, and regulatory filings.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the firm's portfolio management and compliance policies and procedures, ensuring day-to-day activities are performed in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Identify opportunities to improve portfolio management processes, controls, and workflows as the business continues to grow.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Mathematics, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably within ETFs, trading, portfolio management, or a related investment function.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel required; experience with VBA, Bloomberg, Python, or similar tools is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying issues and driving them through resolution.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across Portfolio Management, Trading, Compliance, and other internal teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proximity to Chicago and New York preferred
  • Basic Bloomberg command knowledge
  • Experience with or exposure to investment compliance guideline monitoring, maintenance, and updates.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Understanding of operational risk and the importance of maintaining effective controls within portfolio management and trading processes.
  • Proactive and improvement-minded, with the ability to identify opportunities to enhance workflows, processes, and overall efficiency.

The pay range for this role is:

90,000 - 130,000 USD per year (United States)
