Head of Medical Communications -SkinCeuticals

Location: 10 Hudson Yards NYC

The SkinCeuticals Head of Medical Communications is a critical position responsible for shaping, developing, and executing the brand's comprehensive medical marketing strategy.

This position requires an experienced professional equipped with refined presence, strategic foresight, and sharp scientific and analytical capabilities. They must expertly guide key stakeholders, reinforce market leadership within the medical channel, and maximize financial performance by anchoring medical marketing strategies to core business priorities.

The Head of Medical Communications is a leadership position, reporting directly to the Brand General Manager with dotted line to the Vice President, Medical Affairs for L'Oreal Dermatological Beauty - Aesthetics. They will operate in a dynamic, high-impact leadership environment requiring a sophisticated balance of scientific acumen and commercial strategy.

Strategic Objectives
  • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive, data-driven marketing strategies tailored to the physician and HCP channel, while also leading efforts to elevate the brand's voice and value proposition
  • Drive Innovation & Launch integration by actingas the strategic bridge between R&D, Medical Affairs, and Brand Marketing to co-create the scientific positioning and launch strategy for all new product innovations, ensuring clinical proof points are seamlessly embedded into go-to-market plans.
  • Possess a unique blend of strategic vision, analytical scientific acumen, and strong leadership to foster both short-term and long-term success for the brand
  • Monitor the competitive aesthetic landscape, translating emerging clinical trends into actionable messaging briefs for the brand marketing team to grow share of recommendation across all key product segments, and ultimately protect and grow SkinCeuticals' #1 recommendation share.

Detailed Business Objectives

  • Market & Scientific Intelligence: Attend key medical congresses to gather emerging trends and scientific insights-brief the marketing team and translate insights into actionable takeaways to ensure strategies remain forward-thinking and responsive to the medical landscape

  • Medical Marketing and Communications Strategy: Partner with marketing to create HCP-facing core communication materials (including clinical presentation decks, HCP educational modules, congress symposia, and brand messaging toolkits). Ensure every piece of brand marketing and innovation collateral is anchored in robust pre-clinical and clinical data, driving clear differentiation in the aesthetic market.

  • Medical Liaison to Global Teams: Collaborate strategically with global marketing and global medical divisions to champion US market priorities, driving alignment for the success of the US market

  • Pipeline & Innovation Strategy: Partner with US Brand Marketing and Global Innovation teams early in the product development cycle to advise on clinical endpoints, claim substantiation, and medical positioning for upcoming product pipelines.

  • Key Opinion Leader Relationships: Cultivate and manage relationships with top-tier dermatologists and plastic surgeons, integrating their clinical perspective into brand messaging and product positioning.
  • Competitive Intelligence: Track competitor scientific claims and product launches from professional meetings and literature, delivering actionable counter-messaging guides to the marketing and sales training teams.
  • Synergistic Partnerships: Forge strategic alliances and collaborative initiatives with key external stakeholders to expand brand reach and mutually engage shared target audiences
  • Marketing Advisory Boards: Convene expert KOL insights/advisory boards to gather critical understandings that shape successful go-to-market strategies

  • Travel: Travel to congresses and brand activations will be required up 20%.

Education & Qualifications:
  • Scientific degree, Masters degree preferred
  • 8 to 12+ years of professional experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, or medical aesthetics/skincare industry with 5+ years specifically bridging medical affairs, scientific communications, and commercial marketing.
  • Deep understanding of aesthetic dermatology, skincare science, and B2B medical marketing required
  • Exceptional public speaking skills and clear written communication for internal and external stakeholder audiences
  • Proven ability to work well with colleagues cross-functionally across all departments
  • Proven skills in medical aesthetic marketing, strategic thinking, project management, tactical execution, analytical thinking, and launch execution
  • Strong capability of managing multiple projects simultaneously and ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
