Full Job Description
The AVP, Business Analytics and Insights is responsible for driving, leading and evolving the data strategy for the Manulife Group Benefits business in Canada. In this capacity you will develop short-, medium- and long-term strategies to leverage data to improve the health of Canadians, drive revenue growth, position GB as a thought leader in the market and deliver an exceptional experience for plan members and sponsors. You will collaborate with internal & external partners as well as clients to act as a leading expert on group benefits data and insights in the industry. As the owner of GB data you will be accountable for advising on all aspects of data and analytics for group benefits including opportunity identification, data needs and appropriate data usage. You and your teams will work closely with a cross section of internal partners including distribution, product development, operations, underwriting, marketing, IT and global data offices to deliver initiatives that further Group Benefits ambitions to become a trusted health partner in Canada.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead an assessment of GB data maturity and develop recommendation on our data roadmap over the next 3 - 5 years
  • Evolve the GB Data strategy to improve the health of Canadians, drive revenue growth, position GB as a thought leader in the market and deliver an exceptional experience for plan members and sponsors.
  • Evolve and execute a comprehensive Sponsor Reporting Strategy to differentiate Manulife in the market
  • Collaborate with Product and Distribution to deliver business outcomes that advance Manulife's ambitions as a Group Benefits provider and health partner
  • Lead Group Benefits Data Ownership - ensuring proper use and protection of data. Interact with consultants and clients to establish a working relationship and ensure Manulife's position in the marketplace
  • Act as a leading expert on Group benefits data and insights in the industry
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team to drive engagement and connection with business, IT, and data teams across the organization
  • Develop your team to consult with and advise internal stakeholders on opportunities to leverage data to deliver business outcomes
  • Build relationships and establish a high level of trust and credibility across the organization to advance group benefits data goals
  • Proactively communicate with internal stakeholders to understand needs and improve the relevancy of group benefits reporting to achieve business goals
  • Oversee Canadian Segment Data Office activities related to GB


Knowledge/Experience:
  • Strong business sense with a solid understanding of the business environment and awareness of current issues
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including data, business analytics or computer science
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate, negotiate, and influence effectively
  • Proactive with the ability to work independently, particularly in the area of using sound, independent judgment, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Results-oriented, able to manage expectations, work under tight timelines and manage competing priorities
  • Strong ability to lead and develop technical teams to deliver high quality business outcomes at rapid velocity
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to inspire, engage and provide clear direction to staff while coaching and motivating to achieve objectives
  • Partner management experience requiring persuasion / influencing, relationship building, and negotiation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to simply articulate technical problems and potential solutions
  • Excellent presentation skills and can convey complex topics clearly, tactfully, persuasively, and effectively to a wide variety of partners
  • Sophisticated Excel skills and experience with Power BI
  • Excellent customer focus and commitment to quality


If the successful candidate is in Québec, proficiency in both languages will be required to support clients from various provinces outside of Quebec.

Salary range is expected to be between
$129,800.00 CAD - $241,200.00 CAD

Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
