OverviewThe Associate Vice President (AVP) of Ambulatory Nursing provides enterprise-level leadership for nursing services across ambulatory settings, including physician practices and provider-based clinics. This role is responsible for advancing clinical quality, patient safety, professional nursing practice, workforce engagement, and operational performance across a diverse and growing ambulatory network.
Reporting directly to the Ambulatory Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the AVP serves as the senior nursing leader for ambulatory services across the enterprise. The AVP maintains a strong collaborative relationship with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to ensure alignment with system nursing standards and works closely with the AVP of Ambulatory Operations to drive operational excellence, patient access, care delivery optimization, and strategic growth initiatives.
In partnership with physician, nursing, and operational leaders, the AVP leads efforts to deliver high-quality, patient-centered, efficient, compliant, and value-driven ambulatory care while advancing nursing excellence and innovative care models across the continuum of outpatient services.
Responsibilities- Provide strategic and operational leadership for ambulatory nursing services across physician practices and provider-based clinics.
- Advance clinical quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and evidence-based nursing practice throughout ambulatory settings.
- Collaborate with physician, nursing, and operational leaders to optimize care delivery, patient throughput, access, and workforce effectiveness.
- Support the development and implementation of ambulatory care models that improve patient outcomes, enhance patient experience, and support value-based care initiatives.
- Ensure alignment of ambulatory nursing practices with enterprise nursing standards, policies, and strategic priorities.
- Foster a culture of nursing excellence, professional development, accountability, and employee engagement.
- Lead initiatives focused on workforce planning, retention, succession planning, and nursing leadership development within ambulatory services.
- Partner with operational leadership to drive financial stewardship, operational efficiency, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Oversee compliance with all applicable regulatory, accreditation, and professional practice standards.
- Utilize data, analytics, and quality metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.
- Champion interdisciplinary collaboration and promote integrated, patient-centered care across the ambulatory enterprise.
- Support innovation, care redesign, and transformation initiatives that enhance ambulatory clinical operations and patient outcomes.
Qualifications- Master's degree in Nursing required; MSN preferred.
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive nursing leadership experience, including significant experience in ambulatory or outpatient care settings.
- Demonstrated leadership experience within ambulatory practice environments.
- Strong knowledge of ambulatory operations, quality metrics, regulatory standards, and professional nursing practice.
- Certification in Ambulatory Nursing required within two (2) years of hire.
Preferred- Experience within an academic medical center or large integrated health system.
- Experience leading care redesign initiatives and value-based care models.
