Job Summary

PartnerRe is investing to further expand its presence in the US life market. This position is responsible for leading advanced research, analytics, and actuarial support for accelerated and automated underwriting programs. The role will partner closely with clients, pricing actuaries, underwriters, and a global data science team to develop and enhance mortality assumptions, assess emerging data sources, and support innovation in risk selection.

This role reports to the VP, Actuarial Innovation, US Life.

About the Role

Analytics, Assumptions, and Model Development
  • Lead the development of industry-leading mortality and risk-selection assumption methodologies for accelerated and automated underwriting programs.
  • Evaluate 3rd-party data sources and predictive models, determining appropriate actuarial and analytical approaches to assumption setting and monitoring.
  • Ensure that analytical models and assumptions reflect pricing guidelines, best practices, and regulatory expectations.

Client & Internal Collaboration
  • Advise pricing actuaries, underwriters, and clients on the use of external scores, tools, and underwriting data in product and reinsurance structures.
  • Lead projects with clients to design, calibrate, and optimize dynamic underwriting programs.
  • Present technical insights and findings to internal stakeholders, clients, and industry audiences as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the Client Partners and pricing teams to support opportunity evaluation and broader client strategy.

Research & Innovation Leadership
  • Provide subject matter expertise on underwriting, mortality modeling, and data quality.
  • Identify and research emerging trends in automated and accelerated underwriting and develop recommendations for strategic adoption and market positioning.

Governance, Documentation & Monitoring
  • Develop and maintain documentation to support internal peer review and governance.
  • Lead the monitoring frameworks for ongoing performance evaluation of underwriting programs, scores, and models.

Team Leadership & Development
  • Oversee and review the work of junior team members, providing technical coaching and guidance.
  • Foster collaboration, accountability, and strong analytical standards across the AUW & Pricing function.

Work Experience and Qualifications

Technical Skills

You are a technically strong individual with demonstrated analytical capability, communication skills, and the ability to build strong partnerships across technical and non-technical functions.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in US life insurance or reinsurance.
  • Understanding of predictive modeling concepts, emerging AI agentic tools, and machine-learning approaches.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of trends in automated and accelerated life underwriting.
  • Familiarity with life pricing, product development, or reinsurance analytics.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder-management skills, with experience presenting technical material to both actuarial and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced Excel.

Education
