Job Description

The Aviation Facility Maintenance Manager manages the corporate aviation department's hangar facilities, office spaces, grounds, and support equipment - overseeing infrastructure and building systems through preventive and corrective maintenance, and as required by applicable regulations, standards, and municipal codes. This work entails both hands-on labor and contractor oversight. Working closely with flight operations, maintenance, corporate real estate, technology, vendors, and airport stakeholders, the Facilities Superintendent leads capital projects, construction, commissioning, ongoing maintenance activities, and workplace safety initiatives while promoting operational excellence, safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Facility Operations & Maintenance
  • Oversee daily operations of the hangar, ramp, offices, and ground support areas to ensure seamless support of executive ground and flight operations
  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all systems, including HVAC, fire suppression, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of all hazardous material
  • Maintain ground support equipment (i.e. lifts, tugs, ground power units, hydraulic power units, company vehicles, fall protection systems, and overhead gantry
  • Maintain the facility grounds, including regular lawn care, snow and ice removal from walkways and ramp, sprinkler systems, and care of trees and plantings
  • Ensure facilities are maintained to the high standards expected of a Fortune 100 flight department, emphasizing reliability, cleanliness, and presentation


Safety, Risk, Training, & Compliance
  • Serve as the primary steward of workplace safety in alignment with the company's Safety Management System (SMS) and GREWE protocols
  • Conduct regular safety and compliance inspections; maintain detailed documentation of corrective actions
  • Coordinate with airport operations, TSA, and local law enforcement on security and access control measures
  • Track compliance with FAA, EPA, OSHA, NFPA, and airport authority requirements
  • Coordinate training and keep accurate records of all related matters


Financial Management & Administration
  • Develop and manage the annual facility budget, including capital improvement and maintenance expenditures
  • Oversee vendor contracts and procurement for maintenance, janitorial, landscaping, snow removal, and other facility services
  • Coordinate with GREWE on opportunities to consolidate procurement efforts
  • Track and report performance metrics, cost control initiatives, and asset lifecycle management through deployment of a computerized maintenance program


Leadership & Project Management
  • Lead facility projects from concept through completion and in alignment with corporate standards, timelines, and budget constraints
  • Implement energy efficiency initiatives consistent with corporate sustainability goals
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational safety, efficiency, and aesthetics
  • Supervise facility and line service staff, ensuring adherence to company policies and performance standards
  • Represent the flight department in interactions with corporate real estate, finance, and risk management functions


Qualifications

  • 5 or more years working in an operational environment with oversight or managerial responsibilities in the stated duties for the role
  • Knowledge of commercial electrical systems, heating, ventilating and cooling systems, fire suppression system maintenance along with ability to adapt quickly to meet the unique and changing demands of the facilities and sophisticated equipment used in maintaining our aircraft
  • Appropriate technical skills and knowledge to complete required maintenance and inspections of building and operational equipment through direct, hands-on activities or through monitoring the work of others
  • Demonstrative organizational skills, with attention to detail and a sense of pride in their work and appearance of our facility
  • Written and verbal communication skills conducive to the stated responsibilities
