The OpportunityThe Automation Controls Engineering Specialist provides Controls related engineering support for two of the west side Atlantic Plants. The job function is to provide Automation Controls Technical Expertise for our Hannon plant and Mississauga Plant. This is a full-time day position with the possibility of emergency support for our 24/5 operations. Work between the two (Midwest and Mississauga). Base Office or Offices in both plants.
What you'll do- Act as subject expert in diagnostics for complex issues that cannot be solved by our internal Electricians. Ongoing Job Functions (50% of the time)
- Technical Support when machine is down is top priority (24/5).
- Understand and/or able to program PLC's either Siemens S7 or AB RSLogix and able to program SCADA and or Phyton.
- Able to configure and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFD).
- Provide cross training to electricians when time permits and or during debugging complex problems.
- Back-ups of; PLC, SCADA, HMIs and Drives parameters.
- Obtain missing files for assets from OEMs (Programs, Schematics, Parts Lists, Manuals,,, in electronic format) - Maintaining Engineering Software (over 50 software packages) on Controls Engineering Laptops.
- Ensure Engineering Controls Laptops can connect to numerous devices (Drives, PLCs, HMIs) mainly Allen Bradely and Siemens
- Assist in identifying Electrical Controls issues and implement solutions.
- Assist and coordinate Electrical Controls / Automation projects such as End-Of-Life machineries and/or components.
- Work may require occasional extended hours to assist and support the troubleshooting of electrical equipment.
- Training of Electricians when and if time permits
What you'll bring- Technologist, Engineer, or Electrician with 8 years OEM Machine building experience required
- Technologist or Engineer must have minimum of 5 years OEM machine building experience preferably PLC / SCADA programming, VFD configuration, Electrical Control system integration, and commissioning complex Automation / Robotics systems with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs, SCADA / HMIs
- Electrician with a minimum of 8 years OEM machine building experience preferably PLC / SCADA programming, VFD configuration, Electrical Control system integration, and commissioning complex Automation / Robotics systems with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs, SCADA / HMIs. Candidates with OEM machine building hands-on experience (Controls Programming, PLC/Drive system integration, Commissioning) is preferred
- Understand or trained on PLC software logic, able to program PLC's either Siemens S7 or AB RSLogix, and able to program SCADA and or Phyton
- Understanding of PLC / Drive system integration to production equipment and communication protocols
- Able to configure, setup, troubleshoot VFD's
- Able to troubleshoot complex Automation / Robotics systems using electrical meters, PLC software, and SCADA system

Hiring Range : $90,000 to $112,000 per year. A candidate's experience and knowledge may be factored into the pay a candidate receives for this position. This posting is for an existing vacancy.
