Full Job Description
Job Title: Automation Controls Engineer II
Location: Loveland, CO (Local Candidates Only)
Job Type: Full-Time | On-Site / Some Travel Required, 25%-50%.
Remote or relocation candidates will not be considered.

The position develops, assembles, tests, and services automation solutions independently. This includes mechanical setup, adjusting field devices, programming PLC, HMI, and Robots, as well as testing communication within the system. Work will take place both at RMH and customer facilities. Our teams find opportunities to consult, design, and implement across all types of manufacturing.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement advanced robot and PLC automation systems, and integrating 3rd party equipment.
  • Identify and connect with strategic 3rd party suppliers to support projects. Document contact information as well as products and services they provide.
  • Assist with standards and deliver project documentation, programming, and process.
  • Assist with continuous improvement of product and process.
  • Follow established best practices in risk management and testing.
  • Schedule service engagements as needed. Arrive prepared and on time complete service ticket and submit promptly after completion of work.
  • Complete internal run-offs, validating all checklists for readiness. Direct Controls Engineer I's as needed.
  • Ensure systematic documentation and resolution of technical issues encountered during programming and commissioning.
  • Attend customer meetings as needed.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and mechanical/electrical teams for project alignment.
  • Assist in negotiating conflicts internally and externally.
  • Provide onsite installation support and start up/Commissioning services on the job site.
  • Advise sales team on controls design functionality and practicality of controls. Direct Controls Engineer I's as needed.
  • Ensure deadlines are met with minimal rework.
  • Troubleshoot complex automation issues and document problems and resolutions thoroughly.
  • When working onsite, complete the daily log and send to management regarding what was completed, goals for the next day, and any materials or help needed to complete the job.
  • Maintains a clean work area, puts tools away, and follows all safety practices of the organization when completing work assignments.

Requirements for the position:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical school plus experience
  • 2-5 years PLC programming capability required. (Studio 5000, RS Logix 500)
  • 1 year experience with Fanuc Robots (hardware and software)
  • Ability to handle a project with Allen Bradley PLC and HMI Programming (FactoryTalk View) on your own
  • Familiarity with Inductive Automation's Ignition platform
  • 1-2 years of experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD electrical required
  • 3D CAD platform experienced preferred
  • Safety oriented attitude required

  • Ability to travel domestically 25%- 50%.
