DCAM - Hyde Park clinic. Here, you will work alongside our
Audiology team. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.

Under the direction and supervision of the Clinical Director of Audiology and Section Administrator (BSD), provides audiology services (consultation, evaluation and intervention) in an acute care hospital and clinical outpatient setting for adults and/or children. Provides prompt and efficient attention to patient and clinic needs. Manages and performs administrative duties related to clinical role. Effectively manages all levels of complexity of patient audiological needs including tertiary care. Acts as team leader in a subspecialty area of audiology among: implantable hearing devices, vestibular evaluation, pediatric audiology, or adult diagnostic audiology/hearing aids.
Essential Job Functions- Audiologic Evaluations
- Complex diagnostic evaluation of the functional status of the peripheral auditory system in adults and children and interpretation of these results. This includes pure-tone air and bone conduction audiometry, speech audiometry, tympanometry, distortion product otoacoustic emissions testing, acoustic reflex thresholds and decay testing.
- Knowledge of appropriate device candidacy requirements, including hearing aids, cochlear implants, osseointegrated devices and assistive listening devices.
- Patient and family counseling, including patient education and appropriate referrals.
- Advanced diagnostic evaluations:
- Electrophysiology: Team members are actively involved in assisting with advanced peripheral diagnostic assessments such as: auditory brainstem response (ABR), auditory steady state response (ASSR), electrocochleography (eCochG), vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (VEMP) in adults and children.
- Team leader: An Audiologist III is expected to lead and develop clinical programs in a subspecialty field and to act as a reference to other audiology team members for one of the following: implantable hearing devices, vestibular evaluation, pediatric audiology, or adult diagnostic audiology/hearing aids.
- Intervention
- Amplification
- Evaluation for recommendation of amplification and assistive listening devices.
- Ability to take earmold impressions.
- Dispensing of amplification including patient instruction of use and maintenance.
- Evaluation of benefit of amplification and assistive listening devices, i.e. verification and validation measures.
- Cochlear Implants
- Team members are actively involved in assisting with:
- Evaluation of cochlear implant candidacy, including candidacy assessment and counseling.
- Evaluation of benefit of amplification and assistive listening devices, i.e. verification and validation measures.
- An Audiologist III is expected to act as a team leader, managing protocols, including industry and clinical updates for staff.
- Communication Reports
- Appropriate documentation including audiogram and/or written report with test results and recommendations.
- Dissemination of test results and recommendations to referral sources and/or outside agencies. Internally, this may include OHNS, Pediatrics, Oncology, Psychiatry, and/or Neurology. Externally, this may include educational placements and state agencies.
- Patient and family counseling, including patient education and appropriate referrals.
- Electronic documentation of patient care, including telephone conversations with patients and patient care teams.
- Attend regular audiology staff meetings.
- Knowledge of EPIC use including, scheduling, documentation and provider communication.
- Inform (verbal or written) patient of special instructions, if needed, for the scheduled appointment.
- Professional Practice
- Facilitate compliance audits.
- Develop and lead implementation of new clinical programs, including research or quality improvement opportunities.
- Effectively manage staff training, education, orientation and competency assessment.
- Participate in continuing education courses/seminars/workshops related to the practice of clinical audiology.
- Deliver presentations to community organizations.
- Actively participate in a relevant professional organization at the state or national level (i.e. serve as a committee member or presenter at a convention).
- Complete and submit charge forms for each patient seen.
- Participate in the UCH Studies when appropriate and provide follow-up recommendations to the study patient's family.
- Maintain clinic appearance and follow all appropriate hospital patient care, regulatory, and administrative policies.
- Oversee monitoring, ordering and tracking departmental supplies.
- Perform other duties as requested by senior management.
- Process invoices as needed.
Required Qualifications- Doctor of Audiology (AuD) or PhD in Audiology.
- Illinois Department of Professional Regulation License for Audiology
- The candidate must have completed the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or ABA Certificate of Clinical Competence. This includes successful completion of the national board examination.
- Minimum of ten years experience as a clinical audiologist required, preferably in a comparable clinical setting.
- Candidate should demonstrate proven ability to consistently perform assigned tasks promptly and with a high level of customer satisfaction. Ability to handle contacts with patients, families, physicians, nurses and/or external contacts courteously and pleasantly while providing prompt and efficient attention to customer needs is also essential.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
