Job Description

Provides an array of clinical audiologic services related to the identification, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of impairment of auditory and vestibular function, and to the prevention of hearing loss and impairments associated with them, for pediatric patients from birth to young adult.

Responsibilities

  • Administration and interpretation of behavioral, physioacoustic, and electrophysiologic measures of auditory-vestibular function.
  • Select, fit, verify, dispense and validate amplification devices. Provides counseling and training regarding amplification use.
  • Collaborates with and/or serves on cochlear implant team determining audiologic candidacy for cochlear implant.
  • Cochlear implant team members provide pre and post-surgical audiological assessment, audiological counseling, implant programming, and maintenance of implant hardware and software.
  • Provide information and training on auditory-vestibular function to other professionals.
  • Work collaboratively with Otolaryngologists, Primary Care Providers, Developmental Pediatricians, speech-language pathologists, other physician's, health care providers, and educational programs.
  • Contributes to departmental productivity and maintains all aspects of documentation, both patient and operational, following established organizational and departmental procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the population-specific differences and needs of patients in appropriate, specific populations from neonate through adolescence and applies them to practice. Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients/families and co-workers.
  • Demonstrates support for the mission, values and goals of the organization through behaviors that are consistent with the Connecticut Children's Medical Center STANDARDS.


Qualifications

Education and/or Experience Required:
  • Master's degree or higher in Audiology required, Au.D. preferred.
  • Audiology experience with pediatric population and amplification dispensing experience required, preferably in a medical setting.

License and/or Certification Required:
  • Connecticut Audiology License or eligible.
  • Maintain & meet Continuing Education Unit (CEU) requirements associated with CT Audiology licensure.
  • CPR - Basic Life Support (BLS) required. American Heart Association or Military Training Network. Must be Maintained.
