Job DescriptionThe Hematology & Oncology Division is committed to providing comprehensive pediatric hematology, oncology, and bone marrow transplant (BMT) care, including stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies for patients with leukemia, myelodysplastic and myeloproliferative disorders, solid tumors such as neuroblastoma and relapsed Wilms tumor, bone marrow failure syndromes, relapsed Hodgkin lymphoma, sickle cell disease, and recipients of CAR-T cell therapy.
The physician will function as a BMT specialist and also will provide general hematology and oncology care for patients treated within the Division of Hematology and Oncology. The Physician will provide high-quality, patient- and family-centered care across both inpatient and outpatient settings, managing a broad spectrum of benign and malignant hematologic disorders, oncologic conditions, and transplant-related care. Responsibilities include the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases affecting the blood, bone marrow, immune, and vascular systems, as well as the development and oversight of individualized treatment plans.
The physician will participate in the care of patients undergoing bone marrow transplantation and cellular therapies, including pre-transplant evaluation, post-transplant follow-up, and management of transplant-related complications. Outpatient responsibilities include providing routine hematology and oncology care, survivorship and off-therapy evaluations, and longitudinal management of patients receiving specialized therapies. While chemotherapy administration in satellite clinics is limited, the physician will collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary oncology team to ensure continuity of care.
Additional responsibilities include attending on the inpatient Hematology/Oncology service, providing care for patients admitted for hematologic, oncologic, and transplant-related conditions. The physician will also provide outpatient clinic coverage in the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders and contribute to the continued growth and excellence of the pediatric hematology, oncology, and BMT program.

- Examines patients and orders diagnostic tests.
- Analyze patient symptoms and test results and make a diagnosis.
- Prescribe treatments, develop treatment plans, and coordinates with other doctors to treat or manage side effects.
- Lead a treatment team of other physicians and healthcare workers.
- Counsel patients and family members while promoting the well-being of patients and their long-term survival.
- Maintain patient records via the electronic chart system.
- Participates in interdisciplinary and clinical rounds.
- Provide education to student, residents and fellows
- Conduct innovative clinical and/or basic science research.
- Faculty appointment at UCONN.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation and/or Experience Required:- Education: MD or DO Degree
- Experience: 1 year as a BMT Attending
License and/or Certification Required:- Licensed and registered, and in good standing under the laws of the State of Connecticut
- DEA
- Board certification or eligibility for board certification in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology-Oncology
