County AttorneyAbout the Position
The Civil Attorney for Behavioral Health is responsible for representing the Maricopa County Attorneys Office (MCAO) in hearings on petitions for mental health treatment, reviewing cases involving danger to others, and providing periodic legal training to crisis management workers involved in the civil commitment process.
Note: This position is seeking an attorney to work in the Human Resources, Behavioral Health, and Probate Practice Group.
We Require
Juris Doctor or Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from an American Bar Association (ABA) approved law school
Two years of civil practice experience
Other Requirements
You must have a current Arizona Bar license and number and be in good standing with Arizona Bar Association
Valid Arizona drivers license upon hire
The Maricopa County Attorneys Office requires a thorough background check of all successful candidates and is authorized to test prospective employees for the presence of illegally accessed drugs. Testing is conducted once an offer has been extended and prior to placement

Ability to communicate effectively and can travel to and from various county locations for court appearances, meetings, and training, utilizing personal or county-owned vehicles
Ability to move up to 20 pounds
