Description
The Corporate & Employment Attorney at MOM's is responsible for providing legal counsel across corporate and employment law, supporting the CFO and the Employee Experience team on relevant matters. Core responsibilities span commercial contract management, employment law guidance, data privacy compliance, and corporate recordkeeping, with a strong emphasis on partnering internally to build legal awareness and managing outside counsel relationships. This role works 5 days a week out of our Rockville, MD headquarters.
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts including vendor agreements, NDAs, licensing agreements, leases and service contracts.
Serve as primary legal resource for the Employee Experience team on employment law matters including workplace investigations, employee separations, accommodation requests, and policy compliance, with a focus on identifying and resolving legal risk early.
Provide training and guidance to leaders on legal risk awareness.
Ensure corporate entity records including resolutions, registrations and required state and local filings.
Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable federal and state employment laws, data privacy regulations and internal policies.
Manage outside counsel relationships across labor, corporate and specialized matters, ensuring appropriate scope, cost and strategic alignment with MOM's legal needs.
Prepare and present legal updates and risk assessments in a clear and concise format.
Foster a workplace culture consistent with the company's purpose, values, and goals.
What we look for:
JD degree from an accredited law school
Active bar admission (and in good standing) in DC, MD or VA
3-5 years' related corporate and/or employment legal experience
Experience drafting and negotiating contracts, agreements, and legal documents
Experience advising on employment matters including hiring, terminations, leave, accommodations, and workplace investigations
Knowledge of federal and state employment laws (Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, NLRA, etc.)
Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements and ability to provide guidance within that framework
Knowledge of corporate governance and regulatory compliance
Proficiency with legal research platforms (Westlaw, LexisNexis)
High level of integrity and professional ethics
