About the role

This role offers the opportunity to practice across a broad range of legal disciplines while partnering with business leaders on matters that are critical to the success of Illinois Farm Bureau (IFB), COUNTRY Financial, and affiliated companies.

Attorneys will counsel and advise on all matters of legal concern. They may be asked to concentrate in one or more practice areas, while gaining exposure to a variety of legal disciplines, including Agriculture, Banking and Financial Services Regulatory, Contracts, Corporate Governance, E-Commerce, E-Discovery, Employment and Employee Benefits, Insurance Regulatory, Intellectual Property, Litigation, Real Estate and Mortgages, Securities, Tax, and Transactional.

How does this role make an impact?
• Provides a broad range of legal services involving independent analysis, planning, research, investigation, and development of legal advice on matters that are significant to the operations, governance, and strategic objectives of the organization.
• Reviews policy and account materials, internal and external corporate communications, regulatory and consumer correspondence, corporate policies and governance documents, proposed and existing statutes and regulation, and regulatory guidance.
• Partners with business leaders and cross-functional teams to identify legal risks, develop practical solutions, and support business initiatives.
• Monitors and interpret legal and regulatory development affecting the organization's operations and recommend appropriate actions.
• Manages or supports litigation, regulatory inquiries, and other legal proceedings as needed.
• Monitors changes in laws and regulations relevant to the assigned practice area and provides updates and recommendations to ensure the company's legal compliance.
• Contributes to enterprise-wide projects and strategic initiatives while balancing legal, regulatory, and business considerations.

Do you have what we're looking for?

Typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience or a combination of related experience, education and training.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction and able to obtain Illinois bar admission (full admission or authorized in-house counsel status) within one year of hire.
• Current with continuing legal education requirements established by the applicable licensing authority.
• Experience in insurance, annuities, securities, financial services, regulatory, administrative, or corporate law preferred.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Sound judgment and the ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice in a fast-paced environment.

Base Pay Range:

$133,600-$183,700

The base pay range represents the typical range of potential salary offers for candidates hired. Factors used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, qualifications and experience.

Incentive Pay:

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for a Short-Term Incentive plan.
