Job Summary

The University of Michigan's Information Assurance team at Michigan Medicine (IA:MM) is looking for a candidate to fulfill the role of Assurance Platform Manager. You will lead the implementation and ongoing management of the software solutions that the Information Assurance team relies on to protect Michigan Medicine. You will be responsible for managing business relationships and ensuring that we have the solutions available to meet the business needs. Also, managing vendor relationships and developing a plan for the products. Finally, managing a team of engineers and operations staff responsible for implementing and supporting the applications.

Responsibilities*

Team & Product Management
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team responsible for lifecycle management of information security products.
  • Set team direction, assign tasks, and support professional growth, ensuring high performance and motivation.
  • Coordinate with business and service partners regarding product needs, consumption, and service alignment.

Product Administration
  • Drive the implementation, configuration, and ongoing administration of SaaS, hybrid, and on-premises products.
  • Develop and maintain product health metrics and align product portfolios to organizational requirements.
  • Use available tools (e.g., ServiceNow) to track and align product and service delivery.
  • Communicate service outages and resolution processes to end-users and support teams.

Lifecycle Management & Strategy
  • Create and maintain product roadmaps, leveraging threat intelligence for lifecycle and strategy decisions.
  • Work with product vendors to manage QBRs and annual roadmap updates.
  • Coordinate with enterprise hosting and infrastructure teams for server and hardware support.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements or alternatives to existing solutions, assessing fit, cost, and value.
  • Collaborate with compliance teams for audits, risk assessment, and to mitigate vulnerabilities with business owners and vendors.
  • Facilitate and track change management processes, ensuring accurate documentation of configurations and workflows.
  • Ensure up-to-date documentation for disaster recovery, business continuity, access controls, and vendor contacts.

Required Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3 years in a managerial/supervisory or team lead role overseeing 5 or more direct reports.
  • 5 years implementing and delivering technical solutions.
  • 2 years working with technology vendors.
  • 2 years of security-related technology application.
  • Strong influencing, negotiation, conflict resolution and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Experience in building and growing reliable, high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and mentor others.
  • Desire to work in a team based collaborative environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work collaboratively.

Desired Qualifications*
  • Graduate Degree in related field.
  • Experience in academic, research or clinical setting.
  • Vendor management and outsourcing experience.
  • Solid grasp of core information security concepts, practices, and technologies.
  • Familiarity with risk management, incident response, vulnerability management, IDS/IPS, and firewalls.
