The University of Miami seeks an innovative and collaborative Associate Vice President and Dean of Undergraduate Admissions. As a key senior leader withing the Enrollment Management division, the Associate Vice President and Dean of Undergraduate Admissions has primary responsibility for recruiting and enrolling an academically strong undergraduate class of first year and transfer students that supports the university's mission and vision as well as the needs of each school within the University of Miami. The Associate Vice President leads a team which develops and implements an integrated marketing and recruitment strategy for new undergraduate students while overseeing a holistic, thoughtful and future focused admissions process. This involves leading all undergraduate recruitment efforts, and requires advanced knowledge of recruitment and operations technology, as well as marketing and recruitment approaches. These include but are not limited to web, social, and digital media, direct mail, telemarketing, advertising, and on and off campus programming. Within this, significant market research knowledge relative to potential growth markets domestically and internationally is required. Additionally, a systems and analytic approach to recruitment and admissions is critical to success. This position involves leading, managing, mentoring, and coaching the undergraduate admissions team as well as contributing creative, effective and collaborative ideas and approaches to the Enrollment Management senior leadership team.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the overall enrollment management strategy and approach for the University of Miami.
  • Provide strategic leadership and expert knowledge on undergraduate admissions and all parts of the recruitment, selection, and enrollment funnel.
  • Develop and implement an integrated marketing and recruitment strategy for undergraduate students which, along with all activities, highlights the university's strengths and competitive advantage.
  • Communicate admission strategy with campus leaders, and key faculty and staff in each college and school.
  • Research and analyze potential growth markets domestically and internationally and incorporate with the integrated marketing and recruitment plan.
  • Lead strategic initiatives relative to all form of recruitment with a focus on reaching students and parents as technology evolves. These may include print, direct mail, telemarketing, multimedia, web, and social and digital media as tied to undergraduate recruitment at the domestic and international levels for both freshman and transfer students.
  • Develop an undergraduate domestic and international recruitment strategy involving high school and community college visits, college fair attendance, telemarketing, and on and off campus recruitment events.
  • Develop, evaluate and train staff on a holistic admissions process and rubric which supports the vision and goals of the University of Miami and its constituent schools and colleges.
  • Lead community college articulation agreement initiatives.
  • Develop an undergraduate admissions organizational structure that highlights the importance of on campus events, off campus recruitment, transfers, students of color, guidance counselor relations, legacy and siblings, student ambassadors, and application evaluation.
  • Manage, mentor, and coach the undergraduate admissions team providing a path for professional growth and development.
  • Analyze undergraduate admissions data to ensure enrollment goals and initiatives are achieved. Suggest and refine metrics
  • Develop and manage the undergraduate admissions budget, including forecasting of needs for personnel, recruitment and yield activities.
  • Know and adhere to NCAA and Atlantic Coast Conference regulations as they pertain to recruitment and eligibility.
  • Serve as campus expert on admissions and lead or serve on campus committees in that role.
  • Attend undergraduate admissions, marketing and recruitment related conferences as necessary to develop professional skill set and maintain knowledge of the higher education landscape.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President.


Qualifications: (Education/Training and Experience Required)
  • Master's degree preferred. Preferably in Higher Education, Business, or related field.
  • 10 or more years directly related experience in undergraduate admissions.
  • Superior coaching, mentoring, team building, communications and supervisory skills.
  • Superior market research and analytical skills.
  • Superior leadership and management skills and experience.
  • Thorough mastery of a productive and efficient admissions operations process.
  • Demonstrated quantitative, qualitative and analytical problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge, understanding and technical savvy of student information systems.
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders at multiples levels regarding admission and operational processes including effective communication and collaboration with school and college leadership.
  • Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to analyze macro and micro level admissions related issues and trends.
  • Skill in recognizing opportunities to create efficiencies using new processes and technologies.
