DescriptionBaylor University invites applications for its inaugural
Director of Public Humanities. This role includes a tenured faculty appointment in an appropriate academic department within the College of Arts & Sciences (e.g., History, English, Philosophy, Religion, Anthropology, Art History, Communication, or related humanities disciplines) at the rank of associate or full professor.
The successful candidate will provide visionary leadership for the development and growth of innovative, community-engaged humanities programs at Baylor while maintaining an active program of scholarship and teaching within their disciplinary home. The Director will provide strategic leadership of public-facing humanities initiatives, build and sustain relationships with community organizations, support faculty and student involvement in public scholarship, convene interdisciplinary collaborations across Baylor's departments and colleges, identify and pursue external funding opportunities, manage internal financial commitments to public humanities initiatives, and lead program assessments.

- Academic credentials commensurate with the rank of associate or full professor.
- Demonstrated record of scholarship, teaching, or creative activity in a humanities field as well as public-facing scholarly engagement.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Experience directing programs, centers, institutes, or major initiatives, and/or a demonstrated ability for collaboration across disciplines and with external partners, including a record of seeking external funding and philanthropic support.
