Role: Associate Architect - Software Development (Epic Integrations)

Location: Remote (USA); Miami, FL is preferred

What you will do:

  • Pipeline Development : Architect, test, and maintain robust batch and stream ingestion pipelines handling high-volume HL7 v2 and FHIR messages.

  • System Integration : Establish secure, automated server-to-server connections with hospital EHRs and clinical networks using OAuth 2.0 asymmetric authentication.

  • Data Quality & Validation : Implement schema evolution checks, automated error handling, deduplication, and real-time data transformation rules.

  • Compliance & Privacy Guardrails : Ensure all data ingestion channels strictly comply with PHM,HIPAA, SOC 2, and data privacy frameworks with complete auditability.

  • Performance Tuning : Resolve network bottlenecks and optimize distributed queries over complex on-premise and hybrid cloud environments.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Extensive expertise in Epic modules (Ambulatory, Inpatient, MyChart) and integration technologies (FHIR, HL7 v2, Epic Interconnect, Chronicles, Clarity, Caboodle) to build compliant healthcare data exchanges.

  • Proven track record designing enterprise SaaS microservices using ReactJS, Python APIs (FastAPI, Flask, Django), and containerized or serverless AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS).

  • Skilled in end-to-end architecture—from defining requirements and database interactions to translating complex workflows and balancing custom code against native Epic capabilities.

  • Deep experience crafting comprehensive testing strategies, including unit and integration testing (Pytest, Jest, React Testing Library), Git version control, and maintaining technical architecture documentation.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead code reviews, troubleshoot cross-environment production issues, drive customer-facing communications, and collaborate effectively in distributed Agile teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Epic's App Orchard program and developing applications for the Epic ecosystem.

  • Experience with other healthcare integration engines (e.g., Rhapsody, Mirth Connect, Cloverleaf).

  • Clinical background or strong understanding of clinical terminology and workflows.

  • GenAI & ML solution design experience, particularly for healthcare data analysis or predictive modeling.

  • Experience incorporating GenAI and automation practices into SDLC.

  • Exposure to development of data pipelines, especially for extracting and transforming healthcare data from Epic.

  • Exposure to DevOps best practices such as infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines for healthcare applications.

  • Exposure to large-scale digital transformation initiatives within healthcare organizations.

  • Knowhow of NoSQL databases.
