What you'll do in the role:Morgan Stanley Services Group Inc. is seeking an Associate, Software Engineer in Alpharetta, Georgia to develop a framework to streamline web services development, reducing costs and improving team efficiency. Automate decision-making workflows and validate data objects, enhancing system flexibility and performance. Lead migration initiatives from legacy systems to scalable, open-source architectures, improving system flexibility, maintainability, and operational efficiency. Design and implement high-performance frameworks capable of processing millions of records. Develop end-to-end batch components including readers, processors, writers, job listeners, retry logic, skip policies, checkpointing, and restart mechanisms. Handle deployment activities across both on-premise environments and cloud-based repositories, ensuring seamless promotion of builds across development, testing, user acceptance testing, and production environments. Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting mechanisms to proactively identify failures, performance bottlenecks, and operational risks. Participate in architectural discussions, defining enterprise batch processing standards, and ensuring adherence to security, compliance, and coding best practices. Provide production support, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and implement performance tuning strategies for mission-critical financial batch workflows. Utilize containerization technologies to deploy and manage microservices, ensuring consistent performance across development, testing, and production environments. Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week.
What you'll bring to the role:-Requires a Bachelor's in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field of study.
-Requires five (5) years of experience in the position offered or five (5) years as a Senior Lead Software Engineer, Technical lead, or a related technical occupation.
-Requires five (5) years of experience with the following skills:
- designing and developing complex web applications using modern web application development technologies and frameworks;
- Developing large scale complex software solutions;
- Developing web services using standard Java-based frameworks/toolkits;
- Developing client-server, distributed, real-time applications;
- Concurrency and high volume server-side development;
- DB concepts and experience working on SQL Server;
- Messaging protocols MQ and Kafka;
- Developing standards/practices;
- The full Software Development Life Cycle of the project;
- Java/J2EE;
- UI technologies;
- Spring;
- myBatis;
- Gradle;
- MQ;
- Kafka;
- SQL Server; and
- Web services including REST, SOAP, JSON, and XML.
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $158,000 and $158,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
