Full Job Description
Position Description

The Associate / Senior Associate is the Tampa-based team lead for Business Operations & Intelligence and the day-to-day manager of the analyst pool. Where analysts carry functional focus lanes, this role thinks across the entire enterprise - connecting LP, portfolio, fund, and pipeline data into one operating picture, and owning the standards that make the team's output trustworthy at scale.

  • Lead and develop the Tampa Business Operations and Intelligence analyst and intern team: workload management, quality control, training, and performance development in partnership with New York infrastructure leadership
  • Own the firmwide data-request intake protocol: prioritization standards, data-vs-analytics triage, turnaround standards, escalation rules, and the domain SME routing matrix
  • Own quality-control standards and the audit-trail discipline for every data response leaving the team
  • Serve as the cross-enterprise integrator: fulfill and design multi-division data work spanning LP, portfolio, fund, and origination data; identify recurring patterns and convert them into new reports in the firm's reporting engine and new dashboard elements
  • Lead the absorption and industrialization of offshore vendor data workstreams, including workflow handoff design with the firm's offshore partner and 24-hour coverage coordination
  • Drive the team's data-project portfolio: cleaning campaigns, scraping builds, training-data preparation, and emerging BI analytics work
  • Partner with Enterprise Infrastructure on the firm's data lakehouse migration (Microsoft Fabric / Omni BI) and AI-enabled reporting roadmap; champion AI tooling adoption within the team and across the divisions it serves
  • Add value to other aspects of Star Mountain's overall business as an aligned partner assisting in building a leading private investment business

Qualifications
  • Technical data background required: degree in data science, computer science, information systems, or a comparable quantitative field, with strong applied command of SQL and data manipulation; Python and BI tooling (Power BI or comparable) strongly preferred
  • 3-6 years of full-time experience in data operations, business intelligence, analytics, or financial services data management, including demonstrated experience leading work or people
  • Enterprise-level thinking: proven ability to work across functions and connect disparate data domains into one picture - this is the defining trait of the role
  • Finance fluency: solid understanding of private markets structures - funds, LPs, credit and equity investments, portfolio monitoring - sufficient to design data work for each
  • Process-design orientation: experience building intake systems, SOPs, QC standards, or comparable operating frameworks
  • Clear, confident communication with senior executives; ability to represent the team's work and standards firmwide
  • Discretion and sound judgment handling confidential executive, investor, and portfolio information
  • Team player with a positive, solutions-based attitude and a strong work ethic; strong culture carrier and developer of junior talent
