Our Research Scientists are our Inventors. The Cell Pharmacology group within the Department of Quantitative Biosciences is seeking a highly motivated Scientist with a background in biology research and drug discovery to join our team in Boston.
In this role, you will identify and target steps in disease mechanisms or pathways to develop effective therapeutics. The primary responsibilities include the design and implementation of various in vitro cellular assays and the execution of high-throughput compound and biologics screens. The ideal candidate thrives in both independent and highly collaborative multi-disciplinary environments.
Key Responsibilities- Assay Design & Implementation: Independently design and implement various cellular in vitro assays using a wide range of methodologies.
- Screening Execution: Execute semi- and fully automated high-throughput compound and biologics screens in support of internal drug discovery programs.
- Experimental Strategy: Develop and execute experimental strategies to define biomarkers, mechanisms of action, and the resistance of therapeutic agents of interest.
- Documentation & Collaboration: Properly document and report experimental findings, providing key scientific contributions to research projects across multiple disease areas.
- Cross-Functional Teamwork: Work closely with members within the department and across functional teams to support research projects at various development stages.
Qualifications & RequirementsEducation- B.S. / B.A. degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, OR * M.S. degree with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
Required Experience & Skills- Extensive job-related laboratory research experience and medium/high-throughput assay execution in an academic or industrial setting.
- Demonstrated proficiency in cell culture, passaging, and harvesting.
- Solid data analytical and problem-solving skills, including proficiency with standard scientific software used for data analysis.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; a proven ability to function and communicate effectively in a multi-disciplinary, team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications- Hands-on assay development and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency with different high-throughput screen formats.
