The Associate Risk Counsel provides legal support across a broad range of business, operational, and risk management matters for MyEyeDr.'s growing organization. This role works closely with members of the Legal Department and business leaders to review, draft, negotiate, and manage a variety of legal agreements while helping mitigate legal and operational risk across the enterprise.
The Associate Risk Counsel will gain exposure to diverse areas of law, including commercial contracting, mergers and acquisitions, employment matters, regulatory compliance, risk management, and general corporate legal support. This position offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of legal matters impacting a rapidly growing healthcare organization with operations across multiple states.
As a member of a collaborative Legal Team, reporting to the Sr. Risk Counsel, the Associate Risk Counsel will support attorneys and business partners on day-to-day legal matters, contract administration, due diligence activities, policy review, and other legal initiatives. The ideal candidate is a practical, business-minded attorney who is eager to develop expertise across multiple legal disciplines while contributing to the success of a fast-paced and dynamic organization.
This is a hybrid remote role, offering a flexible work arrangement out of our Vienna, VA office , with an in-office requirement of two days per week.
You Will
- Draft, review, and revise a variety of healthcare-related agreements, including optometrist employment and service agreements, professional services agreements, and acquisition-related transaction documents.
- Prepare legal correspondence, contract amendments, and other supporting documentation as needed.
- Support the administration and maintenance of contract lifecycle management systems, document repositories, and cloud-based legal records.
- Review and analyze contract provisions, including compensation structures, restrictive covenants, term and termination provisions, and other key business terms.
- Partner with field operations leaders and internal stakeholders to gather information, understand business needs, and facilitate contract drafting and execution.
- Coordinate and track contract reviews, approvals, and execution status while maintaining accurate records and reporting.
- Manage and collaborate with outside counsel on assigned matters, ensuring timely and cost-effective legal support.
- Develop, maintain, and update standard templates and form agreements for healthcare professionals and related business arrangements.
- Conduct legal research and analysis related to healthcare regulations, privacy and data protection laws, fraud and abuse regulations, including federal Anti-Kickback Statute considerations, and other applicable legal requirements.
- Provide general legal and risk management support to the Legal Department and business partners as assigned.
- Participate in occasional regional travel to support business and legal initiatives.
About You
- Juris Doctor from ABA Approved School, passage of a State Bar Exam and in good standing .
- Ability to gain Corporate Counsel designation with Virginia Bar .
- Minimum 2 years of legal experience, preferably in healthcare, corporate , employment, regulatory, contracts, or an in-house legal environment.
- Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate risks and recommend practical solutions.
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and other legal documents.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively to business stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience with contract management or document management systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations, privacy laws, employment law, or mergers and acquisitions is a plus, but not required.
- Self-motivated, intellectually curious, and eager to learn across a broad range of legal and business matters.
