Job Summary
The Associate Relationship Manager supports commercial banking activities by partnering with Relationship Managers, underwriters, and clients to execute deals, analyze credit opportunities, and manage portfolio operations. This role helps maintain portfolio quality and compliance through financial analysis, risk monitoring, loan administration, regulatory requirements, and accurate reporting. As responsibilities grow, the Associate Relationship Manager develops and manages client relationships, identifies business opportunities, and delivers tailored banking solutions that meet client needs. Success in this role requires strong analytical, relationship management, business development, and collaboration skills, as well as a commitment to KeyBank's policies, ethical standards, and client-focused approach.

Essential Functions
  • Partner with Relationship Managers, underwriters, and clients to support deal execution, conduct due diligence, and prepare proposals, pitch materials, and loan requests.
  • Support credit and underwriting activities by analyzing financial information, completing ROE analyses, reviewing financial statements, and preparing deal documentation.
  • Ensure data integrity, regulatory compliance, and accurate reporting by maintaining systems, supporting audits/exams, and validating credit processes.
  • Oversee ongoing portfolio management activities, including financial statement collection, loan renewals, documentation updates, covenant compliance, and KYC requirements.
  • Manage portfolio risk through asset quality monitoring, risk rating reviews, portfolio maintenance, and proactive identification of credit concerns.
  • Continuously enhance sales, credit, and product expertise; leverage CRM and sales tools; collaborate across teams; and maintain compliance with KeyBank policies, ethical standards, and business objectives.
  • Progressively assume responsibility for a client portfolio, building and strengthening relationships while serving as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact.
  • Develop and execute business development strategies by maintaining a comprehensive understanding of clients' businesses, industries, financial performance, and growth opportunities.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities through proactive prospecting and cultivation of Centers of Influence (COI) and referral networks.
  • Deepen client relationships by identifying needs and delivering appropriate financial solutions across KeyBank's commercial banking platform.
  • Promote and educate clients on KeyBank's full suite of products and services, including treasury management, capital markets, Key Private Bank, Key at Work, and other specialized solutions.
  • Leverage market, industry, and client insights to uncover opportunities, support revenue growth, and enhance client satisfaction and retention.
  • Performs other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities and/or activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice
  • Complies with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including without limitation, acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key's clients and Key.


Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, finance or related field (preferred)
  • OR equivalent experience (required)


Work Experience
  • 2+ years of commercial banking experience (e.g., credit structuring & analysis, sales functions, risk assessment, knowledge of commercial banking products, services & technology) accounting (required)
  • 2+ years working in Credit Structuring & Financial Analysis (required)
  • Ability to manage workflow and complex commercial banking deals (required)
  • Ability to manage stress and competing priorities (required)
  • 2+ years working in Commercial Middle Market Credit Structuring & Financial Analysis (preferred)
  • 2+ years Commercial Middle Market Underwriting and Financial Analysis (preferred)


Skills
  • Formal credit training strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Applicable systems may include - Key proprietary systems e.g. Salesforce, nCino, SharePoint,
  • Ability to meet timelines and perform multiple tasks

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $80,000.00 - $150,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
