Job Description

The Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee, is seeking a full-time Associate Professor/Professor and Chair. This position is responsible for the management and administration of the Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) and Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) programs and participating in teaching, research, and service. This is a 12-month tenure-track appointment that reports to the Dean of the College of Health Professions.

Responsibilities

Manage and administer the MOT and OTD programs, including but not limited to:
  • Planning and evaluation of degree programs.
  • Budgeting.
  • Recruiting, evaluating, developing, and retaining highly qualified faculty, staff, and students.
  • Maintaining accreditation.
  • Engaging in fundraising and donor stewardship.
  • Contribute to classroom and lab-based instruction.
  • Mentor students in research.


Actively participate in research, data dissemination via peer-reviewed publications and presentations, and applications for grant funding.
  • Lead by example through the advancement of research/scholarship.
  • Actively participate in service to the community, institution, and profession.


Qualifications

EDUCATION: Doctoral Degree-Clinical or post-professional Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy or related field (OTD, DrOT, DSc, EdD, ScD, PhD).

LICENSES: Certified Occupational Therapist licensed in the State of Tennessee.

DEPARTMENTAL PREFERENCES:
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of documented experience in the field of occupational therapy, including:
  • A minimum of 8 years of documented experience in the field of occupational therapy.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience as a faculty member with postbaccalaureate teaching responsibilities.
  • Administrative experience within an academic setting.
  • Nationally or internationally recognized leader in scholarship and research as evidenced through a strong record of peer-reviewed publications, extramural funding, and national service to the profession.
  • Experience with program accreditation.
