Description of Duties

The State University of New York (SUNY) College at Canton invites qualified applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Department Chairperson/Associate Professor position in the Electrical and Engineering Science department, beginning September 1, 2026.
Responsibilities
  • Guide the program into the future to ensure a financially stable program that serves the needs of our industrial partners.
  • Teach online and face-to-face classes, including applied laboratory courses.
  • Offer guidance and advice to students.
  • Engage in innovative teaching methods.
  • Contribute to applied scholarly activities related to electrical programs and societal needs.
  • Advising students on both academic and career paths.
  • Willingness to collaborate with or industry advisory board to ensure the strength of the program.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • D. in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Computer Engineering.
  • Three years of related industrial experience.
  • Clear proof of teaching experience in engineering technology or engineering programs under ABET accreditation.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of all core and advanced topics of electrical engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrable assessment experience with ABET accreditation and self-study.
  • Knowledge of power systems is helpful in our program.
  • Professional Engineering license showing work experience.
  • Working knowledge of programming, circuit design software, PLC applications, and interest in renewable energy.

Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, and criminal background check.
