Associate People Partner - Maersk North America

Role Summary

The Associate People Partner is the frontline People Function representative and trusted advisor to managers and employees. This role ensures consistent and high-quality delivery across employee relations, compliance, and core HR processes, while strengthening leadership capability and employee experience.

The Associate People Partner operates as both an operational executor and a people partner-ensuring that all actions reflect Maersk's Corporate Values: Constant Care, Humbleness, Uprightness, Our Employees, and Our Name.

Key Responsibilities
1. Employee Relations & Workplace Support
  • Act as the first point of contact for employee-related matters, including attendance, leaves of absence, investigations, disciplinary actions, and workplace concerns.
  • Conduct fair, thorough, and timely investigations, gathering facts and recommending appropriate actions.
  • Support managers in handling performance and conduct matters with consistency and clarity.
  • Ensure all employee interactions reflect Uprightness-acting with integrity, fairness, and professionalism at all times.
2. Manager Partnership & Workforce Support
  • Coach and support managers on employee relations, performance management, and policy interpretation.
  • Partner with facility leaders to manage headcount, workforce planning, and temporary staffing needs.
  • Provide clear, practical guidance that enables leaders to make sound people decisions.
  • Demonstrate Humbleness by listening, building trust, and working collaboratively across teams.
3. Talent Processes & Employee Lifecycle
  • Support onboarding, promotions, transfers, terminations, and offboarding processes with accuracy and consistency.
  • Manage performance processes, including corrective actions and Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs).
  • Facilitate training sessions and People Function initiatives to support capability building and engagement.
  • Foster an environment aligned with Our Employees, where individuals feel supported, respected, and set up for success.
4. Compliance, Governance & Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, including wage and hour requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and support audits related to employee records and HR processes.
  • Participate in unemployment, wage/hour, and EEOC hearings as required.
  • Protect the company's reputation by upholding standards aligned with Our Name in all decisions and actions.
5. HR Operations, Data & Continuous Improvement
  • Maintain accurate employee data in Workday or equivalent systems, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Generate and analyze reports to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct audits and implement corrective actions where needed.
  • Continuously improve processes and ways of working, anticipating issues and driving efficiency in line with Constant Care.

Starting Salary: $80,000 - $85,000 CAD*

*The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for the position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.
