Full Job Description
Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Associate Medical Physicist.

The Associate Medical Physicist is a junior level position who works under the supervision of a Senior Medical Physicist and the Director of Radiation Safety. An Associate Medical Physicist is responsible for performing radiation safety/quality assurance testing of diagnostic imaging equipment and assisting with the implementation of the radioactive materials program.

Job Responsibilities:

All
  • Performs all Radiation Safety/Quality Assurance testing and report preparation in a timely manner, i.e. within 2 weeks of due date. Attendance to all departmental meetings is required. Demonstrates an understanding of the requirements, standards and recommendations published by external agencies such as
    • New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene NYC Health Code Article 175 (Radiation Control)
    • New York State Department of Health Title 10 Part 16 NYCRR (Sanitary Code)
    • New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Title 6 Part 380 NYCRR (Environmental Code)
    • US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations
    • US Department of Transportation Title 49 of the Code if Federal Regulations
    • National Council on Radiation Protection & Measurements
    • The Joint Commission

Diagnostic Radiological Physics
  • Perform quality assurance testing of diagnostic x-ray equipment including
    • Radiographic
    • Fluoroscopic
    • Computed Tomographic, Including CBCT
    • Computed Radiographic
    • Magnetic resonance imaging
    • Ultrasound Imaging
    • Primary Diagnostic Monitors
    • Other tasks include:
    • Occupational radiation exposure monitoring
    • RS/QA Audits & Meetings

Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:
  • Additional responsibilities as required by Director of Radiation Safety

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Masters degree program that is acceptable to the NYS Office of Professions
  • 3 years of experience related to your sub-specialty
  • NYS Limited Permit in one of the following Medical Physics subspecialty you are applying for: Diagnostic Radiological Physics or Nuclear Medical Physics

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $101,493.51 - $175,076.17 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
