Job Description:

The Associate Manager, Production Planning leads a team of Production Planners responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing production plans that support manufacturing, material flow, and on-time delivery objectives. This role ensures alignment between the Master Production Schedule (MPS), Material Requirements Planning (MRP), manufacturing order execution, plant capacity, and cross-functional operational priorities.

The Associate Manager provides daily direction to Production Planners, partners closely with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, and Program teams, and drives schedule adherence, kit readiness, work cell performance, and continuous process improvement. This position also supports proposal activity, new product development, and customer/program reviews as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Production Planners supporting manufacturing operations.
  • Guide planners in recognizing, investigating, and authorizing rescheduling of manufacturing orders, including root cause analysis for schedule disruptions.
  • Ensure planners track open manufacturing orders, work queues, and timely closure of completed shop orders.
  • Experience in production planning, manufacturing planning, scheduling, supply chain, or operations within a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of MRP, MPS, shop order control, capacity planning, and manufacturing scheduling.
  • Coordinate resolution of production issues impacting lab performance, order execution, and on-time delivery.
  • Partner with Quality to address nonconforming material issues, including RTV initiation and required manufacturing order updates.
  • Develop and post weekly lab/project goals and ensure alignment with manufacturing priorities and program requirements.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives focused on production planning, schedule execution, material flow, and manufacturing performance.
  • Represent Production Planning on Integrated Program Teams and in cross-functional planning discussions.
  • Lead preparation for program reviews and provide planning status, schedule risk, and execution updates.
  • Participate in program proposal kick-offs, internal operations strategy meetings, fact-finding, and proposal generation activities.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.


Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Prior experience leading or supervising Production Planners or other operations/planning personnel in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • APICS/ASCM certification or equivalent planning/supply chain certification.
  • Experience supporting proposal activity, New Product Development, and cross-functional program reviews.
  • Knowledge of kitting processes, stock transport orders, and production material flow.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies.
