Full Job Description
Overview
Clocktower is further building out its Global Macro Strategy team. The Associate is client-facing from day one, with exposure to senior global investors, the broader Clocktower platform, and the research product itself. This opportunity is designed for someone who is interested in financial markets and wants to build a franchise over time, rather than a rotational program or narrowly defined lane.

About the Role
The Strategy team is close-knit and sits at the center of the Clocktower ecosystem. Roughly, you'll spend your time as follows:
  • 60% Outbound & inbound business development. Drive new business through sourcing and engaging qualified prospects (e.g., CIOs, Strategists, Directors of Research, Portfolio Managers, etc.), many of whom are warm leads. Full ownership over the sales cycle, from outreach through negotiation and closing, but with support from our chief strategists, the CEO, and others at Clocktower.
  • 20% Content & research marketing. Package and distribute our research to clients and prospects; contributing to the research product itself through charts & visuals.
  • 10% Event support. Our global conferences: prospect identification, pre- and post-event follow-up, and on-the-ground coordination.
  • 10% Time to breathe. We move fast but don't aim to churn-and-burn our teammates. Keep a hobby (we recommend surfing, but it's not required. Reading is good, too).
Think of this as a general orientation for your first 90-to-180 days on the job. The right hire will likely gain new opportunities for growth internally, as interest and ability align.

You
  • 2-4 years of post-undergrad experience, or 1-2 years post-master's.
  • Relevant prior roles might include business development or investor relations roles at an independent sellside research shop, investment consultant, or asset management firm. Financial journalism, or macro-adjacent policy/think tank work, are possibilities.
  • A genuine interest in markets/macro, demonstrated through coursework, prior work, writing, or self-directed investing.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication. You'll be representing the research to senior institutional investors from the get-go.
  • Fluency with Bloomberg, Macrobond, or FactSet is helpful; deep experience with a comparable financial/economic data and charting tool is a reasonable substitute.
  • CRM experience (HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar) is preferable.
  • You should be able to demonstrate ties or a genuine commitment to Los Angeles/SoCal.
What You'll Get
  • Direct exposure to senior global investors. Our clients include sovereign wealth funds, pensions, endowments, large asset managers, and global macro hedge funds. You'll speak and meet with them regularly.
  • Connectivity. You'll report directly to the Chief Macro Strategist and work closely with Clocktower's hedge fund team. This includes meaningful exposure to senior leadership.
  • Runway. The role is designed for someone who wants a close, collaborative working relationship with a manager who is building a business function themselves.
  • Growth path. The trajectory is up to you. We prefer entrepreneurially-minded individuals who want to progress and grow rapidly.
  • Compensation. Base salary $90,000-$105,000, plus discretionary bonus. Compensation may vary based on experience, training, education, and scope of the role.
  • Travel ~20%. These will be to financial hubs and/or what some would consider "vacation destinations". Both meeting with clients and prospects, and for Clocktower events.
  • Our office. Santa Monica, in-person. T-shirts and jeans (or whatever you're most comfortable in). Most of us wear our Clocktower hoodies.

Who This Role Will Suit
Someone who is energized by client-facing work, prefers owning outcomes in a small team, is genuinely interested in markets, writes and thinks clearly, and wants to be in Los Angeles.

How to Apply
Please submit an updated CV along with a short cover note (a few paragraphs) on why Clocktower, why macro research and business development, and why Los Angeles.
