Full Job Description
Description

We are hiring an Associate Legal Counsel to take a front-line role in our commercial contracting practice, owning customer subscription agreements, data licenses, and vendor contracts end to end. The Team This is a high-volume, high-autonomy role on a small team, reporting to the General Counsel with direct exposure to business leadership. You will work on one of the most actively contested questions in the market right now, how AI systems may and may not use licensed energy data. You will collaborate closely with Sales, Product, Finance, IT, and Security to align legal positions with commercial objectives.

What you will do
  • Provide practical legal advice to the business on day-to-day commercial and operational matters
  • Serve as the primary legal point of contact for the sales organization, supporting deals from first redline through signature
  • Draft, negotiate, and revise customer subscription agreements, order forms, data licenses, vendor and procurement agreements, and related commercial documents
  • Advise on AI and data-use terms, including the Enverus AI Addendum, permitted-use restrictions, and third-party data licensing rights
  • Advise on legal, regulatory, privacy, and compliance matters across business verticals
  • Coordinate with outside counsel and internal stakeholders on matters involving contractual relationships and disputes, intellectual property including trademark portfolio maintenance and enforcement, acquisitions and corporate transactions, litigation, and data acquisition and distribution

What skills you should have
  • 4 or more years of relevant experience at a law firm, in an in-house legal department, or a combination of the two
  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Licensed and in good standing in Texas, or licensed in another U.S. jurisdiction and eligible to register as in-house counsel in Texas
  • Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating SaaS, subscription, or data licensing agreements
  • Ability to manage a high volume of concurrent matters and prioritize independently
  • Working knowledge of U.S. and international data privacy frameworks, such as CCPA and GDPR
  • Experience with AI-related contract terms, or a demonstrated interest in developing it
  • Sound commercial judgment, able to distinguish material risk from noise and deliver a clear recommendation
  • Comfortable operating with autonomy in a fast-moving, private-equity-backed environment

This role is eligible for: Variable Compensation
