Associate-Investment Banking, Real EstateDesjardins' Capital Markets' ("DCM") Investment Banking Group is looking to add a real estate Associate to its Toronto team. The real estate investment banking team is active within the public and private space, with involvement in several recent public marquee transactions.
Successful Associates demonstrate dedication, leadership, passion for the industry and a strong work ethic. Their roles and responsibilities include leading and performing corporate finance analysis, developing client deliverables, mentoring and directing junior professionals and supporting senior professionals in business development and transaction execution activities. Associates are typically involved in a broad range of transactions and advisory projects, including mergers & acquisitions, divestitures, equity and debt financing, strategic advisory/alternative projects and full capital structure solution projects.
More specifically, you will be required to: - Assist in developing proposals to clients and potential clients for equity and debt placements, mergers, asset or company divestitures or acquisitions, and other financial products and advisory services
- Conduct industry research and analysis to assist in the identification and/or analysis of investment banking business opportunities
- Develop and audit sophisticated financial models
- Participate in cross functional work streams and liaising with other units of Desjardins Capital Markets in executing mandates or preparing proposals for clients
- Prepare industry and financial analysis to determine client recommendations
- Lead industry comparable value and transaction precedent analyses
- Assist in company due diligence investigations
- Prepare offering memoranda and marketing materials
- Assist with prospectus drafting
- Mentor, train and direct junior professionals
- Conduct presentations to clients as a member of the client coverage team
What you bring to the table: - Minimum of 2 years of prior work experience in Investment Banking or similar
- Advanced knowledge of valuation techniques and practices, including discounted cash-flow analysis
- Advanced knowledge of accounting principles relating to financial statement preparation and business combinations
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or other relevant discipline OR completion of an MBA, CPA or CFA
- Advanced knowledge of technical / computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Bloomberg, FactSet, Argus Enterprise)
