Overview:

Summary:

Chatham's Investment Banking team is seeking an Associate to join its real estate coverage team. The Associate will play a key role in the execution of capital raising, including debt and equity transactions, and strategic advisory services for public and private real estate clients, including REITs, developers, and private equity sponsors. This role will contribute to financial modeling, transaction execution, client presentations, due diligence, and industry research while collaborating with colleagues and clients on diverse and complex engagements.
In this role you will:
  • Develop and manage dynamic financial models and scenario analyses using Excel and ARGUS.
  • Analyze and structure real estate debt transactions across various asset types and capital stacks.
  • Conduct primary due diligence and industry research on potential transactions.
  • Review transaction-related documents, including loan documentation, leases, and appraisals.
  • Lead the preparation of client presentations, pitch materials, and transaction memoranda.
  • Support the execution of debt and equity capital raising and strategic advisory engagements for public and private real estate clients.

  • Contribute to the successful execution of capital raising and strategic advisory engagements that help clients evaluate financing alternatives and pursue their business objectives.
  • Apply financial modeling, credit analysis, due diligence, and capital structure analysis to support informed client decision-making.
  • Partner with Investment Banking colleagues and other subject matter experts to deliver thoughtful analysis and high-quality work for clients.
  • Help translate complex financial, transaction, and industry information into clear client presentations and recommendations.
  • Support Chatham's relationships with REITs, developers, private equity sponsors, and other real estate clients through responsive, detail-oriented execution.

  • 3-5 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or a related financial field.

  • Excellent financial modeling and analytical skills.
  • Experience working with credit documents, leading due diligence processes, performing credit analysis, reviewing capital structures, and assessing financing alternatives.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and presentation abilities.
  • Intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, and the ability to learn and navigate complex work.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related field.
  • FINRA Series 79 and 63 licenses preferred, or willingness to obtain them.
