Role OverviewBMO Capital Markets is seeking a highly motivated Investment Banking Associate to join its Healthcare Investment Banking team in New York. The Associate will play a critical role in the execution of M&A, capital markets, and strategic advisory transactions across the healthcare sector, working closely with senior bankers and product partners on complex, high-impact mandates. The Healthcare group advises clients across healthcare services, health-tech and digital health, medical technology, and life sciences & biopharma, providing a full suite of M&A and financing solutions.
- Support the execution of buy-side and sell-side M&A, equity and debt financings, leveraged buyouts, and strategic advisory assignments within the healthcare sector
- Build and review detailed financial models, including operating models, valuation analyses (public comps, precedent transactions, DCF analysis), LBO models, and pro forma capitalization structures
- Prepare and coordinate client presentations, pitch books, management presentations, information memoranda, and board materials
- Draft and review transaction-related materials, including credit memos, committee materials, and diligence summaries, in coordination with capital markets and product partners
- Conduct in-depth industry, company, and financial analysis across healthcare subsectors such as healthcare services, health-tech, medical technology, and life sciences
- Manage execution workstreams, including due diligence coordination, data room management, and interaction with legal, accounting, and other advisors
- Mentor and review work product of Analysts, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and high-quality output
- Work closely with senior bankers to support client coverage, idea generation, and ongoing relationship management
Qualifications- 2-5 years of experience in investment banking or a closely related field with significant financial analysis and transaction exposure.
- An undergraduate degree with academic coursework in finance, economics, or accounting and an outstanding academic achievement
- Strong financial modeling and valuation skills, including experience with M&A and leveraged finance structures
- Demonstrated interest in and understanding of the healthcare industry; prior healthcare experience is a plus
- Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present clearly to senior bankers and clients
- High attention to detail, strong work ethic, and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
Please note the base salary for this role is $175,000 -$225,000 USD

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.
