Trane Technologies is seeking an experienced
Associate General Counsel, Labor & Employment to provide strategic legal leadership on a broad range of labor and employment matters across the Americas Region. This role will serve as a senior legal advisor to Human Resources, business leaders, and executive stakeholders, offering practical, business-focused counsel while helping shape the company's employment law strategy, risk management approach, and compliance framework.
The Associate General Counsel will be expected to lead in the area of labor and employment law with increased independence, drive Americas-wide legal strategy in this area.
What you will do:
- Serve as the lead legal advisor on labor and employment matters across the Americas region.
- Provide strategic and day-to-day counsel on a wide range of employment law issues, including employee relations, performance management, disciplinary actions, terminations, wage and hour matters, leaves of absence, accommodations, investigations, and workplace policies.
- Partner closely with Human Resources, business leaders, and other internal stakeholders to proactively identify and mitigate labor and employment risks.
- Lead legal strategy for employment-related disputes, agency charges, claims, and litigation, including management of outside counsel.
- Direct and support workplace investigations involving sensitive employee matters and high-risk allegations.
- Advise on the design, review, and implementation of employment policies, handbooks, procedures, and training materials.
- Monitor and interpret changes in labor and employment laws and regulations, translating legal developments into practical business guidance.
- Support organizational initiatives such as restructurings, workforce changes, complex employment matters, restrictive covenant issues, and other strategic employment-related projects.
- Build scalable legal processes and governance practices for the labor and employment function.
- Provide leadership within the labor & employment function through mentorship, guidance, and people management responsibilities.

- Demonstrated ownership of complex legal functions or practice areas

- Experience handling sensitive workplace matters with discretion and sound judgment

- Strong litigation management and outside counsel oversight
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly and practically

- Strong organizational, project management, and decision-making abilities
Required Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- 8+ years of relevant labor and employment legal experience
- Significant experience counseling on employment law matters in a corporate environment
- Experience managing employment disputes, litigation, investigations, and policy counseling
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently and take ownership of a legal function or major subject-matter area
- Experience partnering with Human Resources and senior business leaders
Preferred Qualifications:
- Mix of law firm and prior in-house experience
- Experience advising a large and multi-state organization
- Background supporting complex employee relations issues and enterprise-level employment compliance initiatives
- Ability to build processes, improve legal operations, and create practical frameworks for scalable support
Annual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range:$198,993.33 - $302,400.00
