Building commercial infrastructure for an AI-driven SaaS platform

BetterUp is hiring an Associate General Counsel, Commercial to lead its commercial contracting function and help build the legal infrastructure that supports scale, speed, and clarity across a rapidly growing, AI-powered B2B SaaS business.

Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, this role owns enterprise commercial negotiations and manages a high-performing commercial legal team. The Associate General Counsel will partner deeply with Sales, Finance, Product, and Legal leadership to modernize contracting systems, improve deal velocity, and ensure commercial terms align with evolving AI-enabled products and global customer expectations.

In this role, you'll lead complex enterprise SaaS negotiations, strategic partnerships, and high-value vendor agreements, advising on deal structure, risk allocation, and commercial positioning. You'll establish intake and triage processes, service levels, and operating rhythms that balance speed with rigor, while building fallback terms and decision frameworks that enable consistent execution across teams.

You'll also design and optimize contracting systems, including CLM tooling, dashboards, and workflows that provide visibility into pipeline health, bottlenecks, and renewal cycles. A core focus of the role is modernizing contract templates to reflect new product capabilities, AI and data governance requirements, and shifting regulatory and market expectations, in close collaboration with Product, Privacy, and AI Governance teams.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in enterprise SaaS contracting, strong executive presence, and an operational mindset. You are comfortable leading teams, building scalable processes, and acting as a strategic partner to senior business leaders-balancing legal risk with commercial ambition in a fast-moving environment.
