This Position reports to:
Service Manager

We are looking for a Associate Field Service Technologist

At ABB, you'll work alongside some of the industry's leading automation professionals, supporting advanced Distributed Control Systems (DCS) that keep critical infrastructure running across Western Canada and beyond. From power generation, Oil & Gas, water treatment to mining and industrial manufacturing, you'll help solve real-world challenges using technology that powers essential industries.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career technologist who wants to gain hands-on experience, travel to customer sites, and develop expertise in world-class automation systems. You'll receive mentorship from experienced ABB specialists while building the technical and professional skills needed for a successful career in industrial automation.

Based in Coquitlam, BC, with regular travel throughout Western Canada. Reporting to the Service Manager, you will act as a field service representative providing on-site and remote services to customers

This position is a new role and will be on-site.

Your responsibilities:

  • Handle customer service-related issues while fostering strong customer relationships and working to resolve technical problems on-site.
  • Communicate effectively with plant operators, plant management, third-party vendors, and ABB personnel in support of service operations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair DCS equipment by applying technical knowledge, diagnostic skills, and experience to identify and resolve issues.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process-related problems, provide clear recommendations to customers, and implement effective technical solutions. Identify improvement opportunities and recommend potential solutions.
  • Prepare, deliver, and present service documentation, including reports for new installations, maintenance activities, and audits.
  • Travel regularly within Western Canada and occasionally throughout Canada, the United States, and internationally to provide on-site services, project support, and training as required


Qualifications for the role:
  • Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology (Automation and Instrumentation Option) or an equivalent program. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Educational experience with control systems (DCS and PLCs); ABB-specific knowledge would be considered an asset.
  • Customer-focused, adaptable, and community-minded.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Strong technical aptitude, a commitment to safety.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within Canada and internationally.


Must already possess the authorization required to work for ABB in Canada and be available to travel to any of our Canadian customer sites.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $67,500 and $99,000 annually and is bonus eligible.
