RELOCATION ASSISTANCE: Relocation assistance may be available CLEARANCE REQUIRED FOR START: No CLEARANCE TYPE: Secret TRAVEL: Yes, 25% of the Time Job Description: Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) is seeking an Associate Engineer Test or Engineer Test to join our test team. This qualified candidate for this position will be responsible for implementing testing methods and equipment. Compiling data and defining changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements. What you will do: • Assist with operating the IBCS software in a lab or operational-like environment • Follow documented procedures to execute test cases, download and organize log files, and perform basic command-line administrative functions • Work with senior engineers to troubleshoot system issues as they arise, capturing clear details and steps taken • Update test procedures, checklists, and reports based on test results and lessons learned • Support a collaborative team environment with frequently changing priorities and tasks Associate Engineer Test (ENG01): Basic Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline); with 0-2 years of applicable technical experience • Experience supporting testing or troubleshooting of technical systems (such as computers, electronics, or automated equipment), including executing test steps and recording results • Experience using structured troubleshooting methods and diagnostic tools to identify and resolve technical issues (e.g., performance, configuration, or software-related problems) • Experience creating or updating technical documentation such as test procedures, installation/assembly instructions, technical reports, or drawings • Comfortable working with computer-based systems, including installing or updating software and following documented procedures or scripts • Willingness to travel up to 25% • Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance Preferred Qualifications • Experience in a technical, engineering, or manufacturing environment (e.g., supporting equipment installation, assembly-line or process improvements, or control/monitoring systems) • Familiarity with process improvement and quality concepts (e.g., Kaizen, Kanban, quality and reliability practices) • Exposure to command-line or administrative tools (such as downloading log files, checking system status, or performing basic configuration checks) • Experience operating or supporting complex software systems and assisting with troubleshooting in coordination with engineers or operators • Hands-on experience with engineering tools such as MATLAB, CAD tools, or PLC-based monitoring/automation systems • Security+ or other relevant IT/technical certifications are highly desired • Knowledge of IBCS (Integrated Battle Command System) or similar command-and-control / mission systems is highly desired Engineer Test (ENG02): Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline) plus 2–4 years of applicable technical experience • Experience planning and executing tests for complex technical or software-based systems, including defining test steps, verifying results, and documenting findings • Demonstrated experience using diagnostic tools and structured troubleshooting methods to analyze system performance and resolve technical issues (e.g., software anomalies, configuration errors, or hardware interactions) • Experience developing and maintaining technical documentation such as test plans/procedures, installation or assembly instructions, and detailed test reports • Hands-on experience working with computer-based systems, including software installation, configuration, and basic administrative tasks (GUI or command-line) • Willingness to travel up to 25 percent • Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in an engineering, manufacturing, or automation environment supporting system integration, equipment installation, or process improvements (e.g., assembly-line optimization, control/monitoring systems) • Familiarity with process improvement and quality practices (e.g., Kaizen, Kanban, quality and reliability engineering) • Practical experience with command-line or administrative tools for tasks such as log file collection, system health checks, configuration audits, or user/session management • Experience operating and supporting complex mission or control software systems, including working directly with operators to reproduce issues and validate fixes • Hands-on experience with engineering tools such as MATLAB, CAD/automation tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks), or PLC-based monitoring and verification systems • Security+ or other relevant IT/technical certifications are highly desired • Knowledge of IBCS (Integrated Battle Command System) or similar command-and-control or air/missile defense systems is highly desired Primary Level Salary Range: $66,200.00 - $99,200.00 Secondary Level Salary Range: $79,600.00 - $119,400.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
