This role may require working evening or overnight shifts (3:00 PM - 12:00 AM or 11:00 PM - 8:00 AM).
The Associate Data Center Hardware Engineer is a hands-on technical role focused on ensuring the reliability and performance of LinkedIn's global infrastructure. This position is responsible for executing hardware break-fix activities, providing advanced troubleshooting support, and serving as an escalation point for contracted data center technicians. In addition to performing direct repair work, the role partners with vendors, mentors contract staff, and drives consistency in service delivery across all LinkedIn data center operations.
Responsibilities:
- Perform break-fix repairs, including but not limited to replacing failed drives, DIMMs, fans, power supplies, and other server or network hardware components.
- Troubleshoot and resolve escalated issues from contracted technicians, applying diagnostics and escalating unresolved issues to Data Center Hardware Engineers or LinkedIn engineering teams as needed.
- Instal new SSD's and NVME's into existing servers.
- Conduct basic Linux OS and IPMI-level troubleshooting across all server platforms
- Assist LinkedIn engineers with troubleshooting and resolving autobuild (Linux Kickstart) failures, including - straggler- nodes.
- Diagnose and resolve physical-layer network connectivity issues.
- Execute hardware installations and repairs outside the scope of planned quarterly organic growth projects.
- Actively monitor and engage with the Jira ticket queue, ensuring proper ticket handling and quality resolution by contracted data center technicians.
- Participate in onboarding new contracted data center technicians, including training on daily operational tasks.
- Serve as a technical mentor for contracted data center technicians, providing training and guidance to improve quality and consistency.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support global data center operations.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications:
- 1+ years in a Data Center Engineering Role
- 1+ years of Linux troubleshooting experience
- 1+ years of server hardware troubleshooting experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent industry experience.
- 2+ years in a Data Center Engineering Role
- 2+ years Linux troubleshooting experience.
- 2+ years server hardware troubleshooting experience.

The pay range for this role is $74,000 to $122,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
