Job DescriptionThe Associate Director, Tax is a strategic position responsible for overseeing a variety of complex tax matters, including the management of federal, state, and local tax compliance and the income tax provision process. This role will provide leadership on day-to-day projects within the Tax team and will have the opportunity to collaborate with other functional groups, including finance, human resources, legal, R&D and IT, as well as external advisors.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
Oversee the quarterly and annual income tax provision process under ASC 740, including calculations, review, supporting documentation, tax account reconciliations, and financial statement disclosures.
Manage the preparation and review of federal, state, local, and foreign income and franchise tax returns, including estimates, extensions, and other related filings.
Manage and provide strategic direction for IRS and state income/franchise tax notices, audits, and information requests.
Lead technical research on various tax issues and provide guidance to the team.
Direct the preparation of tax account forecasts and monthly accruals.
Lead and direct significant tax projects from planning through execution, proactively identifying risks, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement.
Establish and ensure adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements.
Develop and mentor members of the Tax team.
Lead ad hoc/special projects (e.g., Section 382 study, credit study, etc.) as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Highly organized with great attention to detail.
Self-starter, with an ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to multi-task and handle a variety of tax assignments in a fast-paced environment including being flexible to geographic time zones.
Ability to prioritize tasks appropriately, meet deadlines, execute with accuracy and recognize when issues need escalation.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and analytical skills.
Proficient in Excel, including pivot table and vlookup.
Responsibilities may require a work schedule that may include working outside of 9normal work hours, in order to meet business demands.
Required/Preferred Education and Licenses
Nine to twelve yearsof recent, progressive experience in US corporate income tax with a combination of Big Four and multinational corporate tax department experience.
Extensive experience with ASC 740 is required.
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Business, or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
CPA required; Master's in Taxation is a plus.
