POSITION SPECIFICS

Penn State is currently seeking an Associate Director of Stewardship and Alumni Relations to support the University Libraries Office of Development and Alumni Relations. As a member of the Division of Development and Alumni Relations, you can play an integral role in Penn State's future and contribute to one of the most successful fundraising and alumni relations operations in the country.

Reporting to the University Libraries Director of Development and working closely with the library development team, and library leadership as well as other partners, the Associate Director of Stewardship and Alumni Relations will:

  • Facilitate the development and implementation of all aspects of the stewardship program for University Libraries
  • Identify and recruit alumni for participation in programs, alumni boards, and alumni committees
  • Engage in marketing and communications efforts related to stewardship program; may include writing for print and on-line publications
  • Participate in the strategic and long-range planning for new initiatives and programs designed to enhance stewardship activities of assigned college or campus
  • Provide professional guidance and leadership to volunteers and other staff in order to develop and execute strategies and programs
  • Work collaboratively with partners to maximize stewardship success for the University
  • Work to engage University partners and community in stewardship activities
  • Communicate stewardship objectives and the associated responsibilities to DoD and Libraries leadership, including endowment oversight
  • Plan and coordinate the nomination and selection process for various alumni associations and/or scholarship awards
  • Initiate, plan, and manage programs and special events both on and off campus
  • Coordinate endowment management efforts, serve as the stewardship liaison between the individual units and participate in the strategic planning process for eSteward, stewardship, and endowment related inquiries
  • Hire, supervise, train, and direct the work of assigned staff, including one full-time employee and one seasonal intern.
  • Plan and execute Development Board meetings, serve on Planning and Events committee, and Executive Board committee, and manage board communication
  • Libraries development budget administration
  • Articulate Penn State's needs, ambitions, and values through excellent informal and formal communications.

  • Experience in advancement functions, including events, stewardship programs, endowed funds, and e-stewardship/engagement tools;
  • A strategic mindset, with the ability to think beyond individual tasks and contribute as a thought leader-developing integrated, multi-year engagement, marketing, and communications strategies that elevate the overall impact of advancement efforts
  • A proven ability to self-motivate and work both independently and as part of a team;
  • A commitment to professional development, learning, and being mentored.

SALARY & BENEFITS
The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $65,508.00 - $94,980.00.
