Job Summary

Grand View Lodge is seeking a driven, relationship-focused Assistant Director of Sales to partner with our Director of Sales in leading the property's sales strategy across both group and leisure segments. This is a highly visible, high-impact role; you'll be actively prospecting and closing business, managing key accounts, mentoring the sales team, and helping shape the revenue trajectory of one of Minnesota's most iconic resort destinations. If you thrive in a fast-paced hospitality environment, love building relationships, and have a proven track record of hitting and exceeding sales goals, this role is for you.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Partner with the Director of Sales to develop and execute sales strategies that drive revenue across group and leisure segments.
  • Lead daily business review meetings and weekly sales meetings to ensure the sales team is prepared, aligned, and operating efficiently.
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of key accounts across leisure and group markets, building long-term relationships that result in repeat business and referrals.
  • Respond to and convert inbound group inquiries; preparing proposals, conducting site visits, negotiating contracts, and managing the full sales cycle from lead to close.
  • Collaborate with the revenue management, catering, and operations teams to ensure seamless handoffs and outstanding event execution.
  • Support and mentor sales team members, contributing to a culture of accountability, growth, and results.
  • Represent Grand View Lodge at trade shows, sales missions, industry events, and client entertainment opportunities.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive positioning, and booking pace; contribute insights and recommendations to the Director of Sales.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the property's sales CRM and contribute to monthly and quarterly reporting.
  • Step into a leadership role in the absence of the Director of Sales, serving as the primary sales contact for the property.
  • This is a resort hospitality role; availability on weekends, holidays, and extended hours during peak seasons and for key client events is required.
  • This position is eligible for a sales incentive.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you bring:
  • 3-5 years of hotel or resort sales experience, with a demonstrated track record of meeting and exceeding revenue goals.
  • Experience across both group and leisure sales segments; you understand the distinct rhythms, buyers, and strategies each requires.
  • Strong relationship-building skills; you're equally comfortable with a corporate meeting planner, a wedding client, and a golf group coordinator.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; your proposals, contracts, and client correspondence reflect the caliber of the property you represent.
  • Proficiency in hotel sales CRM systems (Delphi, Salesforce, or similar) and Microsoft Office.
  • A competitive, self-motivated mindset with the ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience with contract negotiation, revenue management concepts, and group pricing strategy.
  • A collaborative leadership style; you elevate the people around you, not just your own numbers.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean record; travel for sales calls, trade shows, and client visits may be required.
  • This position may be remote, with the understanding that client and sales team needs come first. On-property presence is expected approximately 2-3 days per week, with flexibility for more or less time based on business needs, client expectations, and team support.
