Job Summary Under the general direction of the Director of Residence Life (RSE), the Associate Director of Residence Life is responsible for assisting with the daily management and leadership of the Residence Life unit. This includes the administration of our first year and continuing student experience, student and professional staff selection and training, operations, budget development, program direction and development, and emergency and crisis response.
Department Summary Within the division of Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, the Residence Life shares the overall responsibility for serving the on-campus housing program for over 9,000 residents in San Luis Obispo and over 800 at Maritime with the University Housing department in the division of Administration and Finance.
Key Qualifications - Demonstrated skill and knowledge of residence life and related programming.
- Working knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies governing residential programs, including the Clery Act, FERPA, Title IX, ADA and Fair Housing accommodation requirements, mandated reporting obligations, and applicable CSU Executive Orders.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and manage staff with a working knowledge of effective human resources management practices and supervisory skills, including motivation, training, professional development, conflict resolution, and progressive discipline, including supervision of represented staff within a collective bargaining environment.
- Understanding and practical application of program development, training, and coordination skills. Ability to research, plan, evaluate and implement student programs and services.
- Demonstrated skill in extracting, interpreting and compiling qualitative and quantitative data for a variety of audiences, and effectively communicate results of analyses.
Education and Experience - Bachelor's Degree in education, student affairs, counseling, public administration, or a related field, and five years of progressively responsible professional experience managing and coordinating a Student Housing and Residential Life program, including at least two years supervising professional staff. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Salary and Benefits The anticipated hiring range for this role is $85,000 - $105,000 Per Year. Note that the offer is calculated based on the background and relevant years of experience of the individual selected.
