Job Summary

The Associate Director of Internships and Cooperative Education reports to the Executive Director of Career Services and provides leadership in the coordination, administration, employer development, and reporting of internships and cooperative education experiences across Cal Poly's six academic colleges. Working in close partnership with college and campus colleagues, this position helps strengthen internship and co-op infrastructure, expand access to high-quality work-based learning opportunities, and foster effective, consistent practices that align with California State University policy and campus needs.

Key Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of the principles, practices, and current trends of internship, cooperative education, and other work-based learning program administration in higher education, including program design, centralized coordination, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply effective practices and techniques for employer, alumni, and community partner engagement, outreach, relationship management, and related event coordination.
  • Ability to establish program priorities and goals; develop, implement, and monitor plans for achieving them; and conduct assessment to evaluate program effectiveness and apply findings for continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated program leadership skills, including the ability to plan, organize, and coordinate a campus-wide program collaboratively with academic colleges, campus partners, and external stakeholders, and to foster a respectful, collaborative, and productive work environment.
  • Ability to establish systems to collect, track, analyze, and interpret program participation and outcomes data, and to prepare clear reports, dashboards, and presentations that inform decision-making for varied audiences.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and three years of progressively responsible experience in business, marketing, sales, educational administration, or related area. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Salary and Benefits

The anticipated hiring range for this role is $82,000 - $100,000 Per Year. Note that the offer is calculated based on the background and relevant years of experience of the individual selected.

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Anticipated Hiring Range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Classification Range may be broader than what the University anticipates paying for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
