Newark, NJ is seeking to hire a full-time
Associate Director of Human Resources to join our team. This role supports a wide range of HR functions, including payroll administration, employee benefits, unemployment claims management, employee relations, workplace investigations, compliance, and HR operations.
POSITION SUMMARYThe Associate Director of Human Resources is responsible for administering payroll and employee benefits, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, and serving as the primary point of contact for payroll and benefits inquiries. This role manages unemployment claims and coordinates responses to state agencies. The Associate Director of Human Resources also handles employee relations matters by conducting confidential workplace investigations, resolving employee concerns, and partnering with leadership to promote a positive work environment. Additional responsibilities include supporting recruitment, onboarding, performance management, HRIS and personnel record maintenance, policy interpretation, compliance initiatives, reporting, audits, and other Human Resources projects to support the hospital's operational and strategic goals.
QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Five (5) or more years of Human Resources experience in a healthcare setting.
- Experience with payroll processing and benefits administration.
- Experience managing unemployment claims and employee relations matters.
- Experience conducting workplace investigations and onboarding employees.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, and unemployment regulations.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Proficiency with HRIS and payroll systems, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Sound judgment and ethical decision-making
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
- Analytical and critical thinking skills
- High level of professionalism and discretion
