Associate Director, Medical Affairs Intelligence Capability Lead

Organization Overview

Global Field Medical Strategy & Operations serves to maximize the impact of the Field Medical community through standardized tools, innovation, and processes, with a goal of improving patient outcomes around the globe. As a function within Global Medical Affairs Capabilities and Innovation, operationalizing the Medical Affairs strategy to the personal channel is our purpose. The Associate Director, Medical Affairs Intelligence Capability Lead role sits within the Medical Insights & AI Automation pillar of FMSO and owns the project management that scales, enhances, and evolves the Scientific Medical Intelligence (SMI) platform across all global affiliates, disease states, and use cases. The Medical Insights & AI Automation Leader owns the intelligence capabilities' overall vision and strategic direction; this role partners closely in shaping that direction - surfacing business needs, field and affiliate input, and adoption data - while translating it into platform requirements, sequencing enhancements, and coordinating the cross-functional and global stakeholders needed to scale intelligence capabilities responsibly and effectively.

This role partners closely with Tech[redacted], tech and consulting vendors, and data engineering partners to translate Lilly Medical Affairs insights needs into clear platform requirements, prioritized enhancements, and rollout plans - and works alongside the platform product owner(s) to ensure new capabilities are scoped clearly, validated with business users, and continuously improved based on real-world adoption and feedback.

Responsibilities

Capabilities Scaling & Program Management
  • Own end-to-end project management for scaling, enhancing, and evolving the intelligence capabilities - coordinating requirements gathering, prioritization, delivery timelines, and go-live readiness across affiliates, disease states, sources, and user groups
  • Translate Lilly Medical Affairs insights business needs into clear platform requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria that technology and data science partners can design and build against
  • Manage the intake, prioritization, and delivery of platform enhancements (e.g., new data sources, listening priorities, disease states, and affiliates), balancing global consistency with local and affiliate needs
  • Lead business user testing and validation of new intelligence capabilities prior to release, ensuring platform outputs meet the real-world needs of users before broader rollout
  • Own intelligence capability scaling and adoption plan - including go-live sequencing, training and enablement, office hours, and change management - for new affiliates, disease states, and user groups

Program & Business Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Serve as the business-facing SME for intelligence capabilities - articulating platform capabilities, contributing to enhancement roadmap discussions, and supporting agile delivery of platform releases in partnership with technical and data teams
  • Provide training and enablement across all stakeholder teams on how to use the capabilities and interpret its outputs, so users can trust and act on platform insights with confidence
  • Represent the business perspective in capability governance and prioritization forums, and translate business users' feedback into clear, actionable input for the product and technical roadmap

Cross-Functional Enablement & Governance
  • Partner across FMSO, BI&A, FMSO India, Tech[redacted], IBU teams, and vendors to ensure each capabilities' rollout and enhancements scale consistently while accommodating local affiliate, language, and compliance needs
  • Coordinate a global engagement model - consolidating input and feedback from affiliate-level across business stakeholders and ensuring decisions and platform updates flow back to affiliates clearly and on a regular cadence
  • Establish and maintain capability performance monitoring approach from a business and adoption lens - usage, engagement, and measurable business impact - and use it to inform enhancement priorities, in partnership with Tech[redacted], product owner(s), and technical delivery teams
  • Document platform scope, roadmap, and reference materials that help stakeholders across stakeholder teams to understand what Medical Affairs Intelligence Capability does, how it's evolving, how to engage with it; ensure the roadmap continues to meet responsible AI, data governance, and compliance standards as the platform scales
