The role also leads the learning experience and content strategy for RTX University, helping evolve RTX U as the enterprise destination for development. This leader combines learning strategy, performance consulting, design expertise, and technology acumen to determine when to build, buy, curate, reuse, or retire learning solutions and to continuously improve the quality, scalability, and impact of RTX learning.

What You Will Do
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of instructional and digital designers responsible for instructor-led, digital, blended, simulation-based, and performance-support solutions.
  • Set the strategy and architecture for enterprise learning solutions, translating business, talent, leadership, and capability priorities into scalable learning experiences.
  • Lead the learning experience and content strategy for RTX University, including learning architecture, pathways, curation, discovery, and continued evolution of the platform as the enterprise destination for development.
  • Establish and apply a build, buy, curate, reuse, and retire strategy that improves quality, speed, scalability, and investment effectiveness while reducing unnecessary duplication.
  • Serve as a performance consultant and strategic advisor, partnering with stakeholders to diagnose business, performance, and capability needs and determine the appropriate learning or non-learning solution.
  • Establish and maintain learning design governance, including standards, templates, accessibility requirements, brand alignment, quality assurance, and content lifecycle practices.
  • Advance responsible use of AI and emerging learning technologies to improve learning design, development, curation, personalization, and team productivity.
  • Evolve the capabilities and ways of working of the instructional design function as technology, AI, learner expectations, and business needs continue to change.
  • Build strong partnerships across business, HR, Talent, Learning, technology, communications, and other functions to align priorities and drive adoption of enterprise learning solutions and standards.
  • Advise and influence senior stakeholders on learning strategies, solution recommendations, tradeoffs, and investment decisions.
  • Partner with Learning Operations and technology teams to ensure learning solutions integrate effectively across the LMS, RTX University, and the broader learning technology ecosystem.
  • Use learner insights, adoption data, performance measures, and business outcomes to evaluate effectiveness and continuously improve learning solutions.
  • Prioritize work and allocate team and vendor resources across multiple enterprise initiatives based on business impact, capacity, timelines, and investment.
  • Manage external vendors, production partners, and associated budgets as needed.
  • Serve as an enterprise thought leader for learning experience design, learning architecture, and modern learning practices.

  • Experience in learning strategy, instructional design, learning experience design, digital learning, talent development, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing instructional design, learning experience design, or digital learning teams.
  • Experience developing learning strategies, architectures, standards, and scalable solutions within a complex organization.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional design, adult learning, learning science, performance consulting, and modern learning technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose business and performance needs and translate them into effective learning strategies and solutions.
  • Experience establishing learning design governance, including standards, accessibility, quality assurance, and content lifecycle practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence across organizational boundaries and drive alignment without direct authority.
  • Strong executive communication, consultation, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience using data, learner insights, and performance measures to evaluate effectiveness and inform decisions.
  • Proven ability to lead multiple complex priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience leading enterprise learning strategy or solution architecture within a large, complex, global organization.
  • Experience developing or evolving an enterprise learning hub, learning experience platform (LXP), or digital learning ecosystem.
  • Experience establishing build, buy, curate, reuse, and retire approaches for learning portfolios.
