What is the opportunity?

RBC Capital Markets Technology's Data Content team is seeking a skilled Data Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will work alongside Business Analysts and Data Modelers, with primary responsibilities including:
  • Documenting and identifying data requirements gaps
  • Supporting dataset registration, ingestion, and consumption processes
  • Standardizing data across the Capital Markets domain (including Trades, Orders, RFQs, Risk calculations, Profit & Loss reporting, and structured/unstructured analytics datasets)
  • Collaborating with senior Data Architects, IT System Owners, Business Analysts, Data Stewards, and Data Owners to drive standardization efforts across Lines of Business and functions (Front Office, Operations, Market Risk, Finance, etc.)


What will you do:
  • Lead stakeholder meetings to gather and document data requirements
  • Prepare mapping documents and business specifications
  • Analyze requirements, identify gaps, and recommend sourcing and delivery strategies
  • Support dataset ingestion, classification, registration, and consumption processes in partnership with Data Content & Modeling (DCM) and Data Fabric teams
  • Participate in intake forums for Data Fabric and DCM requests
  • Develop queries and views to support data consumption strategies aligned with business requirements


What you need to succeed:

Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or Engineering
  • Business Analysis, Data Modeling, or related analyst experience
  • SQL proficiency
  • Exposure to data analytics
  • Capital Markets industry knowledge


Nice to have:
  • Python
  • Cross-asset experience (Cash and Derivative Products including Rates, Credit, Commodities, Equities)
  • Understanding of Trade Lifecycle (Pre/Post) and Front-to-Back functions
  • Post-graduate certification
  • Data modeling experience
  • FIX, FIXML, React.js, JSON, or Java
