Description

The Division of Advancement and Alumni Engagement utilizes resources, technology, and business for the purpose of soliciting alumni, donor engagement, donor research, and stewardship throughout Emory University and Health Systems. Our mission is to inspire and steward meaningful, lasting relationships that elevate engagement and giving to fulfill Emory's mission to serve humanity. We are currently seeking an Associate Director, Full-Stack Developer.

The Digital Experience team translates designs and functional requirements into live, scalable technical implementations with a passion to engage alumni and persuade donors to invest in the work of Emory. The Associate Director, Full-Stack Developer is responsible for building, optimizing and providing technical support for the digital platforms within Emory University, Advancement and Alumni Engagement digital ecosystem. This position reports to the Director of Communications and Marketing - Experience Technology.

KEY REPONSIBILITIES:
  • Guides the marketing and communications efforts of the department.
  • Develops strategic communications, branding, brand management, and marketing strategy development for strategic initiatives.
  • Develops and creates programs, special event advertising, program materials, proposals, marketing kits, social media, and other communication materials that support division strategic goals, broadens exposure, or promotes the image/brand.
  • Develops and creates effective methods for marketing strategies and distributing communication materials and information.
  • May train others in the use of communications technology. Works with external vendors.
  • Monitors project budgets.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

In addition to the duties outlined above, the Associate Director may be required to:
  • Design, develop, and maintain applications, websites, and digital platforms with front-end and backend frameworks.
  • Support SaaS, enterprise, and cloud-based deployments on Shopify, Acquia, Gravyty and AlumnIQ.
  • Build core features and custom functionality features using JavaScript, CSS, HTML, Liquid and Node.js.
  • Write scripts to automate deployment, configuration, and API installations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in development and production environments.
  • Maintain platform governance, documentation, security, accessibility, and technical standards.
  • Collaborate with Information Technology teams on security, connectivity, and deployment concerns.
  • Partner with the Marketing Intelligence team to translate audience insights into personalized experiences.
  • This position requires coming in person two days a week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A bachelor's degree and three years of professional experience in journalism, communications or marketing OR an equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Three or more years of full stack development experience (JavaScript, CSS, HTML, Liquid, Node.js, front-end frameworks).
  • Drupal back-end module familiarity, using PHP, YAML, and Composer. Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Shopify, Acquia).
  • Clear communicator able to explain technical concepts to varied audiences.
  • Possess a high level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality with sound judgment and discretion.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and navigate a complex work environment.
  • Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
