About the Role

The Associate Director - E-Billing is an integral part of Latham’s Revenue Operations team. This role will be responsible for driving the firm’s e‑billing vision, operating model, and transformation agenda, while developing and executing the firm’s e‑billing strategy in alignment with overall financial objectives, serving as the firmwide subject matter expert on e‑billing operations, platforms, industry trends, and best practices, and co‑leading the global e‑billing function with an emphasis on operating model design, governance, and standardization. This role will be located in either our New York, Washington D.C., or Global Services Office in downtown Los Angeles. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with Revenue Operations leaders to define and review e‑billing policies, metrics, and success criteria based on firm priorities and market changes, and developing and maintaining a firmwide e‑billing roadmap, including technology upgrades, process improvements, and change management initiatives
  • Acting as a co‑owner of the firm’s billing systems, including Elite 3E and eBillingHub, for configuration, workflows, data standards, and integrations, and partnering with internal teams to implement enhancements, automation opportunities, and appropriate governance around user access, security, and data integrity
  • Providing strategic guidance on client e‑billing requirements and guidelines, balancing client demands with firm policies, risk tolerance, and profitability, serving as the senior escalation point for complex issues and major platform changes, leading root cause analysis and long‑term remediation, and representing the firm in client, vendor, and industry forums
  • Supporting internal and external audits related to billing and e‑billing processes, ensuring identified issues are remediated in a structured and sustainable way
  • Designing and overseeing a comprehensive training and education program for attorneys, billing staff, and support personnel on e‑billing policies, systems, and client expectations
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Possess demonstrated experience with enterprise billing systems, preferably Elite 3E, and web‑based e‑billing platforms such as Serengeti, Legal Tracker, Datacert, Tymetrix360, CounselLink, and Collaborati
  • Demonstrate experience managing cross‑functional projects and working with senior leadership in a global or multi‑office environment
  • Exhibit a deep understanding of law firm billing and e‑billing processes, controls, and client expectations

And have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, information systems, or a related field
  • An advanced degree or professional certification, such as an MBA, CPA, or PMP, preferably
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience leading billing or e‑billing operations with responsibility for strategy, transformation, or large‑scale initiatives
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in billing, financial operations, or related functions
