Full Job Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Assistant Controller is responsible for overseeing all aspects of cash forecasting, monthly financial close, and financial reporting.
  • Owns month-end close execution and adherence to deadlines.
  • Reviews and approves journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Manages accounting staff members, particularly general ledger and accounts payable functions; provides mentorship to enhance department member skills and performance.
  • Monitors and forecasts cashflow; reviews and approves payment runs.
  • Reviews monthly financial performance and budget variances; ensures financial statements are properly presented under US GAAP.
  • Conducts regular audits and reviews of financial data to identify discrepancies or areas for improvement.
  • Coordinates with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies, as needed.
  • Oversees consolidations and intercompany accounting.
  • Ensures tax filings are completed accurately and timely.
  • Supports and assists in developing and implementing financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining internal controls, SOX-like standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborates with FP&A and operations on budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Provides technical accounting support to financial management team.
  • Provides support and input to strategic finance initiatives.

QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting - Master's degree or CPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or auditing roles.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and application, financial reporting standards, and internal controls.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., Acumatica) or other construction software is a plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to effectively summarize information into clear and concise updates for various levels of management and external stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and develop talent.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate across cross-functional teams.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years supervisory experience; overall contributor to strong, positive team dynamic and culture of accountability and continuous improvement
